Employee referral program

How does an employee referral program work for big companies?
I have a friend who works for Accenture to submit my resume for internal job. I had to create a profile on their website. After I applied, the HR lady told me that because my friend
referred to, every job I sent my resume through a profile that will be filed as an employee referral. Is that how employee referral programs are all working for big companies? Previously I think the referral of employees worked only one position you are applying at a time.

I think it basically means that if you get a job there, your friend gets a reward of some kind (usually cash) if you take the job and stay there for a certain period of time. That's how it works in my country anyway.

Well usually somebody that you know who works for the company would give your contact number so you will be invited to apply. When you do this and you pass, (or the other conditions are met) the referrer will get some compensation. Yes it does work for big and growing companies.

My cousin also recently referred me. But he is the alumni so that would be considered a referral Alumni.
I do not know if it works the same way or not, but I received an e-mail telling me to set up accounts and create a profile. I did and it was recorded only as a reference job will be. Do the same with you? Did you receive a call back from recruiters?

all depends on which country you are, yes some companies give employees rewards when they referred someone and get hired but its usually marketing and sales based companies, but as far as i know they use like tree you put someone they make money on sales and marketing you make money too and so on.
