If you happen to be greeted with a yellow warning at the top of your Google search results, please be informed that it is not a scam or a hoax. Instead, you might just be one of the two million internet users that have been infected with a malicious computer virus. The malicious software hijacks Google browser searches and redirects people to websites containing fake security programs that pay the scammers for traffic. It is believed that the fake anti-virus software is responsible for this wave of attack where the malware will compromise your computer into entering modified and redirect the traffic when a Google search is entered sending you to servers, controlled by the cyber criminals. Please do not panic when you are affected, as Google has readily issued instructions on how to remove the virus from your computer. So, please check that your computer is being installed with legitimate and original anti-virus software. Not forgetting, to keep it updated and active when you use the internet. Lastly, a little advice for Apple or Mac users who boast of immunity to virus and malware. Well, let me just say along with other online security experts that this immunity is not long lived as there has been an increased threat from cyber criminals due to its popularity over PC.
