Stupid Boss

I just finished my 3 month period in this new company. Of course, what you'll expect from newbies like me is to ask questions if I don't know what to do. Well I have this boss who really seems more clueless than I am when it comes to work tools and processes. I asked him one time about what to do and he said he'll get back at me. Situation came where I have to go look for him since he had been gone for a bit too much time so I looked for him. I found him and, wanna know what he's doing? He was asking another team lead about what to do regarding my concern. What a dumg@ss.. Sometimes I think, how did he ever get that position when he's not right for the job? What a stupid @ss boss I have. Do you have the same boss? Or did you have a boss like this moron?

frontvisions - I do not know what type of a person ur boss is. But he would not have become boss without putting his efforts. Possibly he was not able to answer ur query/doubt. Pl erase this idea from ur mind. Otherwise u will not behave properly with him and that will bring ruptures between u two.

I just can't get rid of the idea because it's true. I'm not just guessing here, you know. He really knows too little about the whole process.

Really? I beg to differ. I don't judge people that quickly, and to put it specifically, I don't judge people that they're dumb the first time I meet them. I don't know what you're trying to say but the idea is kinda off and stupid if you think about it.

Yes, I do had one before. I really don't know how he landed the position as he doesn't have much experience in handling people. Maybe due to networks and relationships with the company owner and other high authority in the company. There are really some bosses who don't know what they are doing and often times the person under them are more technically gifted than they are. Don't worry, such bosses won't be able to hide the fact that they don't know anything forever.

Yeah, having connections within a company is a great thing. It'll pull you up the ladder but it comes with a consequence, you'll have to start from scratch when it comes to product knowledge.

Personally, I think often times, there are many people who have faced this type of situation. It could be that you asked a question that he was not familiar with and just getting conformation from someone else, or maybe someone would be more suited but the company chose him. Since you are newer I would just feel grateful he is trying to help you and hope you are given the Best answers from there.

I don't really feel grateful at all. I wanted to be but he's turning out to be an arrogant son of a b!tch. I'd rather consult with my other bosses than him. He should be studying the processes more rather than boasting his @ss off to junior agents.

I haven't had this kind of boss but you better look for someone who can be of better help to you since you're still a newbie. Try not to bother too much about your boss and just do the best you can. If you can see that he/she is slacking off the job, then other people must see it too and eventually he/she will just get what he/she truly deserves.

Yeah, that's what I was doing, looking for someone else other than him. I'm just too afraid of making a mistake now. I've made too many mistakes taking his advice.

I used to have a boss like that. What made it difficult for her I guess was because she was new to the BPO industry. However, when you're all learning a new product, which is relatively new to almost everyone (it was for a publishing company) you are basically at par with everybody else. Boss or not. Well, seeing as how she didn't see to learn anything during training and only occupied herself with getting to know the people on the floor and crushing on the employees, we avoided her any time we had questions. When worse came to worst and she was the only team lead supervising the floor, we would suck it up, pull out our manuals, and research for the answer. When we couldn't come up with anything (while the customer was on hold, take note) we would finally turn to her, and as we knew it, she wouldn't have any answers. We would come up with resolutions only to find out that it hasn't been carried out because it's either not supported by the service, or those kinds of services were not available. It was really frustrating.

That's another stupid @sshole you can't trust in the workplace. I guess every office has this type of person. I'm just to unlucky because I think I fell into the mother of them all.

Not really a stupid boss but yes somehow similar to that. I have a different case, I had an amoebiasis so I can't get to work. I told my boss that I have high fever and diarrhea. I told her that I can't control my bowel movement anymore and I need to be confined in a hospital. But my boss says that I need to go to work no matter what. I guess she's stupid, how can I work if I can't even get out of the bed? I resigned after a week.

Yep, stupid. You should have AWOLed. As far as I know, it will also affect their stats.

These morons will get to such positions by buttering. No doubt, I do have a jack@$$ boss. This @$$hole doesn't understand any thing and he thinks whatever he knows or does is correct, he is really very annoying, I am trying to change my team, let's hope I get rid of this team and this @$$hole very soon. It's been approximately 4 years now, by the way, all the best to you !!!

I hope you get rid of him soon. Believe me, there's nothing else I wanna happen than that to my boss too but you can't really change the reality.

I can sympathize with you. I got a boss similar to yours who thinks that because she barely pass the board exams( she took it several times before she pass) she is greater than anybody else. I am not usually a very complaining kind of person but all of my office mates( except for her entourage which is just 3 to 4 people who agrees with everything she says but talks behind her back) everybody else have something bad to say about her. She is in the position that she is because no one wants it and in the place where she asked for transfer she was not accepted because of her past negative feed backs. How I wish her one year trip for training to Japan will push through come September so that we will be given the chance to be under a head supervisor that although is strict and disciplinarian, knows how to handle her people well.

It's not a secret, I don't like high maintenance bosses but I'd also rather have one just like that than an arrogant air-headed one.

Oh what a dumb boss you have there. Did you not let him see you , seeing him asking another for that particular concern? He would squirm our of shame. I think, he got that position because he has a big connection at that office. Try finding it out and someday replace him yourself.
• Philippines

That's a bold move, replacing him because if he does have strong connection within the company, that would be pretty hard to accomplish. I guess I'd better start making "friends" there too.

I still need to do some things. There's no work that lets you do nothing at all. The perfect thing for me is when this boss of mine is gone. That will be one less moron in the office.

That is such an irritating boss. As I see, he knows what to do but he is just too lazy to tell what's the proper thing to do. Just calm down for you are still a newbie in that company. You won't enjoy if you will take that situation or your boss's responses to you, seriously and personally. If problem arises, blame your boss for not having those things done for he lacks supervision on you. :D

I'm not gonna wait til my stats go down. I'm just not gonna consult to him anymore. I'll just wait til he makes a mistake and get caught. There are newbies in the floor now and they consult to him often. He's bound to make a mistake one way or the other.

I've had a lot of bosses who aren't as knowledgeable in their jobs as I expected them to be. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at the beginning. Most times, they are just making sure that they have the right answer before giving it to me. other times though, they really just don't know. I let it pass most times specially if my boss is easy to get along with. It's not like I can have him demoted or something. But a stupid and air head boss?!?! Now that's a different story. =D

This is indeed something out of the ordinary, something you'll only see in comedy movies. I honestly thought this type of person never existed.

Well, this one isn't really open for *teaching* at all. He's so ignorant and conceited at the same time that you wanna just smash the keyboard right on his face.
