Hello
Lotter,
I remember a post once, i couldn't recall how ever if this was a discussion, response or comment but the statement on that post mentioned that not only she saved her discussions on her PC but also Printed Every SINGLE one of them
Personally, I don't remember how many discussions she mad but her post number was like three digits or something. seems like a good idea though, but alas, My desktop is history now, but I am considering archiving all of my discussions and it's responses to a separate Harddrisk because i know it's a lot of information made between responses. well, just in case mylot hits the sack that is, for now, i will continue to make new topics and let it just stay here.
Have a Nice day every one..

Hi Letran!
Thankfully I don't have many but might be a good idea to save them too a flash drive or something. It would be nice to refer to them years later and see all the changes and responses I had received.

Hello hardworkinggurl, External disk would be a better Idea because flash can't sustain too many files in it. i remember my former boss lost a lot files worth 3 to 5 gb in her flash drive when encountered an error. later, she decided to have a USB external harddisk instead, which was very much logical and practical.

Wow! Printing it on hard copy entails a lot of hard work and ink as well. She must have too much passion for mylot.
You are very passionate to even consider about it. Though i love mylot, i never thought nor considered of saving each and everyone of my discussions. I think i would never even reached that point of archiving it.

Hello toni,
she has printer and a desktop, what does she got to loose? I a thinking of doing this once i have a new PC and printer. theres nothing wrong with making a hard copy of them. most specially it can be useful some day when i grow old and be reminded of my old thing that i have wrote from the internet. have a nice day

Yeah i got a printer too but won't bother spending cartridges of inks on printing everything that i've made here on mylot! Remember i'm frugal!
Hard copy won't hurt though. But i still don't have the patience for it. You surely can show it to your grandchildren someday. Something to be proud of!
Mylot is my diary. I'm saying things here that i'm not proud sharing to my family. So i'd rather keep it here with my password and all.

I have created my own blog where I store most of my discussions there. It is good idea to keep all our past discussions for our record purposes. It will be unfortunate if mylot decide to cease operation and we don't have anywhere to extract our discussions.

The idea of keeping all my discussions in a blog was mooted when I saw some of my discussions being recycled in some sites without my permission. I thought why give others the privilege to use my works probably for monetary gains when I can do likewise while keeping them as a permanent record for myself. I have too many discussions started here and have not completed in extracting all of them yet.

Wow, that's scary, wonder why she did that? I use to copy and paste some posts I wants to read later on, but now I just hit the envelope button, (That I didn't even know about 3 weeks ago..
) and have only ones I want to read later, sent to my inbox. I also have a special "mylot" folder on yahoo, so it doesn't clutter up my inbox, but I have discussions that I want to save..Like my computer posts..Do you know how many computer posts I have started here since I signed up??? If I could get all of them into my inbox, I might be able to build my own computer!!! Naw, that's a joke, but I have learned a lot about computers here and some things I forgot to copy and so I forgot how to do some things, like opening my computer up in safe mode..I had to do that yesterday and fortunately my son was here to show me how, again..But I know years ago someone told me how to...
So, that would be the only reason and way I wold save a discussion..:)

Oh, you are saying she just printed out her own posts? I thought you said she printed out every post she was involved with, whether she started it or not..Still, it saves paper and computer space to have it sent to my mylot folder in my inbox...The only drawback is I don't know which discussion is which because it doesn't say...

i remember about two years ago, i retrieved all my discussions and saved the original, at least the original posts in notepad and saved them in my computer. i also made a spreadsheet where it holds the title and the web address of the discussion. but all those notepad files and the spreadsheet lost when i change computers. i lost it when i forgot to save them to my flash disc and transfer them to my laptop... but wait, i still have to check if i have them in my laptop. maybe i am just not sure if i did it or i just forgot about it transferring.

if those discussions were saved as a notepad files and includes only the original posts, then it will not take a lot of disk space. and to think, i just saved them to the flash disk so they can be transferred to the laptop.

I do saved some of the interesting and important discussions in my removable drive. It is convenient and i can always refer back to my drive whenever i am looking for answers to some of the matters. So far, i haven't print any one of them yet since i think the ink cartridges for my printer is expensive. I ever thought of using the ink refilling system but it don't really cheap either. I think i will only print those necessary and important documents only. As for Mylot discussion, i think i will only print if there is anything which i want to share with my friend who don't have computer. Those that have computer at home, i can always send the discussions over to their email box.

myfb, Wow, that's good to know. maybe i should save some important discussions and probably not all of them. however, i prefer all of them because I know that things in the discussion will be important to me as time goes by. been here since 2008 had been a remarkable experience

Personally, I guess since I have been a member here for almost 5 yrs. now, I have never been worried about the discussions that I have started etc. and considered saving them anywhere, or printing them out. I know there have been times that I have gone thru some of the older discussions knowing things have changed, but usually for the better, and it can be interesting. But it might be helpful to have record for in case you're looking for something more specific in the future for sure.

I don't know but there are times that i couldn't go back to my old and first discussions i think some of them are being deleted. one of the first discussions I had was about the last solar eclypse back in 2009, though i have seen the last glimpse of it, it wasn't even clear. have a nice day

Hi Knight,
I have never thought about doing anything like this. I was very addicted to this site once upon a time. It is only recently that I have again started being active in here.
But at no point, have I considered having hard copies of my discussions. One reason for that was, maybe, that I didn't have a printer at that time. Now that I do have one, I don't feel like I need copies of my discussions and the responses it got.
Just stay here and post more.

That is true, you know. I did feel like I was missing the discussions and chit chats in here when I wasn't active anymore. Mylot does have a nostalgic feel to it.
But still, that is a lot of ink and paper we are talking about.
I am not sure I am willing to invest so much.

Hello Sagnik,
Well, you have all the time you need to do so and there's no stopping you. make sure you get to notice about your ink and paper consumption per discussion. I don't mind posting more but lately, i've been thinking about archiving it some day. I do miss having these kind of topics be reminded to me when i grow old.

Hi Letran Knight: I think this should be a good idea but in my case I just copy the information that I consider it will help me in my future or to make some plans online. For the rest of the discussions I just read them and if I feel the discussion is really good I come back to check gow it's doing and probably making a new response.

I think that would be an interesting idea to save some discussions you want on your computer. I haven't done it yet. Probably you can try copy and pasting all those in word and note pad. But would you also save other people's discussion responses too? I haven't tried saving discussions but trying to save space on computer, lol.

And when come the time that mylot is no longer operational, I think I will make a screenshot of my profile page as a memorabilia instead of saving all of my discussion. It is far too much
Anyway, on my profile, there're a little glimpse about discussions that I responded, my started discussions, or so. I think I would satisfied enough with that

Hi.. I have gone through some really good and informative discussions in Mylot..
May be I would like to save those discussions or take a print out if necessary. But I have never considered saving my own discussions. Again if I could get some information from the responses given by Mylotters, I would definitely save those data.
People, I suggest you all to 'Go Green'.

Hello Padu, I don't really mind, nothing can last forever in a site and eventually mylot will either die or turn into something else. but Maybe i should consider saying my own discussions so that i will have some good reading post after five to ten years of mylife. this is the only place where part of me is written.

I would not consider archiving all the work I’ve done here because it would be an enormous task that I just don’t have the time for, besides I would not have the time to ever read it all again! I do keep some of the posts I’ve come across that have resonated with me and that I may want to refer to in the future.

dear LK,
I remember I once said I want my discussion to be printed and have a printed files of it for reading purposes.
I guess I will start it soon as I buy new ink for my printer..it's not too expensive then.
Then I can have compilations and have something to read and reminisce about mylot...
Sometimes I just keep scanning here and reading old topic and responses and it's really good reading old topics and some mylotters who are not active and even deleted their account.
have a good day dear brother
