So the work block thing isn't all bad.
That is to say, the new software that the company is using to block certain internet sites, isn't blocking every little thing.
I guess their old software wasn't working so well, and so far it seems to be 100% solid at keeping me off of sites like myLot, Facebook, Ning, etc. It's even blocking NetFlix now.
On the other hand (shhhh don't tell the work block cops), it is no longer blocking ANY survey sites. Not one that I've checked out so far. So I can do online surveys on lunch and breaks instead of myLot. Not as fun as myLot, I'm sure, but at least I can still make a little extra on the side.
And that's the work block examiner report for the day. Signing off...

Ahahaha! They can't block you from the survey's, good deal. Well on the flip side after doing the survey's this will give you time in the evenings to do some myLot!
Goodnight!

Oh I'm sure they CAN block me, but either not enough people at work are doing them, or they don't take up enough bandwidth for it to be a problem.

I think they must just have to choose their battles. Since you earn a bit from surveys, it will still be okay.

I guess that there is a silver lining (or would that be a green lining to represent the money you can earn) in this. However, I suspect that sooner or later they will discover that the survey sites are not blocked and change that as well, so if you are going to do them I would suggest that you do as many of them as you can now while you are still able to.

ON the other hand, if I do too many of them, they may discover the loophole sooner...

Yeah, there is that ... you might have a point there.

I don't understand why they are not blocking survey sites, but it is better than nothing
. I suppose also that you can still access myLot with a web proxy : new proxies are created every day and it is quite impossible to block them all. Good night.

Good night?!
But it is barely morning and already you are saying "good night" ... what exactly are you doing that you are going to bed so early?
On second thought, perhaps I do not want to know.

I would be angry too if I couldn't watch NetFlix while I was working. How dare them.
Nothing better then kicking back to a good movie, eating popcorn, drinking a soda and getting paid for it.
I want to work with you.
Best Wishes!

I don't even watch movies on netflix, I just get their dvds in the mail. I was going there to update my queue and change my billing method.

I really didn't think you were watching NetFlix at work.

Well, that is good to hear. Atleast you have options. I remember all the sites I went to when I was working. Some I knew I couldn't get to. I emailed back and forth with this guy I had met. He was at work too. I wonder what ever happened to him. He was sort of fun to communicate with.

Luckily where I work I an go the computer lab and go on Mylot, Facebook or any of the other websites I like to go on. I would go crazy if I could not go on Mylot or Facebook! That sucks you can't! At least you can do surveys! That is better then nothing to do at all on breaks!

I'm sure if we had a computer lab that they would be blocked there too!

Well, it is definitely a great thing that you have been able to find something that you can do with your internet during your breaks and such while you are at work. With that said, I was lucky enough when I worked outside the house, I was able to use the internet in every way that I wanted to. I was scanning pictures for a yearbook company and I would surf the internet while the scanner was running. I probably spent more time on the internet than I actually did working.

We also have this in our company but being the "good" employees that we are, we always find a way to bypass these security features. One of our favorite tool to use is a proxy software, specifically Ultra-Surf. We normally follow company policies but when it comes to browsing, its a different issue. We really need to browse! lol

sadly, proxy sites are blocked too. I probably could have installed some proxy software when my desk top was "unmanaged", but they have now taken that away too.
