What will happen to Tripoli now that the Libian rebels have taken over the Omar Gadhafi compound? Do you think that this will effect other countries or will he remain in power after this as well? It seems that history is being made today in many ways- this raid, the earthquake in Virginia, and rumors of a split between Hollywood super couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Of course this will affect other countries, it already is affecting them. The real problem that may be arising is that the rebels do not have a central leader. This could lead to Al Qaeda taking over or the islamic brotherhood taking over. Unfortunately there is one more option in the wind...there is one group that is talking about letting Qaddafi run for election. This is just too bizarre.
I cannot believe that you included trash like Hollywood in with subjects of world wide importance. This is what is wrong with Americans, they are so wrapped up in stupidity that they think that crap going on in hollywood istually important.

I happen to know that the Hollywood information is not as important as the other things going on in the world. I was commenting on the things that had happened in the world that day that the news was talking about. If you don't think it belonged there that is your opinion and doesn't mean that I am stupid. I actually am a very well educated adult and do not appreciate the way that you are talking about the people of my country.
I realize that there is not a central leader and that could be a real problem and I certainly hope that he does not get to run for election and we certainly would hate to see Al Qaeda get control of the country. The citizens need to be sure that they are heard as to who they want in control.

Most countries have already recognized rebels as the government of Libya. The situation is still not good in town (Tripoli) but I hope they will stabilize Libyan government and let democracy take its course. If they have been fighting for change in leadership, then I think they will not let the dream fro democracy die because of selfish interests. Its gonna be hard for the country to settle in total peace though, because the remnants of Gaddafi regime will be there to cause trouble here and there but with determination they can make it quickly.
By now, news is all over that the hospitals are overwhelmed with injured people.. I hope other countries are willing to help them out from this situation.

I hope that democracy can reign in in Libya as well. It would be a great asset for the people.

The easy part is done - overthrowing a government is the easy part now they have to unite the country and form a new government. Remember it took us several weeks to remove Saddam in Iraq but it has taken years to build a stable government. The only political and civil structure in Libya is what Qaddafi had in place. Most of them will go into hiding so you have to build a new police and local political structure. I wish them all the success in having the people build a new government.

Yes, you are right. It does seem much harder to build a new government than to just overthrow one. I hope that the citizens will band together and realize that it is time for Gadhafi to be gone and accept new leaders.

I think it does have the potential to effect other countries. We are all linked in one way or another no matter how big or small. I think that it might actually give others the bravery they need to stand up to such things. I guess that can be either good or bad..depending on who you are and how you look at it.
There were some people here that said they felt something from the earthquake but I didn't know a thing had happened. No damage in my area or anything.
I hadn't heard about the hollywood split. Shows you how much I have been watching TV lately.

World media show us the euphoria on the streets of Libyan towns but we see also the heavy fighting and we can't see poor people who hide in their homes, fearing for their lives. Nobody knows what will happens in Libya after Muamar Gaddafi. But we do know what happened in Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam.

You are right! Hopefully, the days of the citizens fearing for their lives will come to an end soon.

Well, I think that what happened in Libya is a great step forward for the rebels and an step closer to Gadhafi's end of rule. He is losing power day by day and sooner or later its gonna be game over for him. Libya is on the verge of winning the revolution.

I believe that you are right. I have not heard anything today but I know when I finally went to bed, he had not been seen or heard from. The rebels were in his compound. Well, I just heard that he has been heard from and is telling the citizens of Libya to take back the city. It is time for him to leave!
