Occassionally There are Funner Days At Work

We have people where I work that tend to make things a little more humorous with some of the annoying callers, and it can make for a more interesting night. Last night for example we had some guy calling all night asking to speak to a manager. We transferred him back to the Superintendant of drivers, and the guy just told him he wanted to speak to a manager, not believing the guy back there was in charge.
He talked with one of the supervisors for dispatch, which is the department I work in and he told the person the same thing. He never wanted to believe that he was talking to anyone of importance for sure. We asked him if he was wanting a Cab to go somewhere and he never said anything more than I need to talk to a Supervisor. I even just tried talking to him like you would a good friend and he just said he did not want to talk to me as I was not wanting to help him.
My Supervisor told him to STOP calling or he would call the police and threaten harassment, and if he wanted a cab he would send one in 20 mins. This guy refused to quit calling until someone sent like 6 or 7 cabs to his address and then the calls stopped. Or at least I think they did... But we played along with him making it into a Fun evening breaking up some of the regular boring monotonous as well.
Can you share stories like this from where you work?

Hi Tina!
This is probably one of the reasons some people last long term on some jobs, because they truly have some moments like this that allow them to momentarily forget all the B.S. at work. I am glad you had a few chuckles as I am sure there are days some callers make for wanting to pull hair moments.
I am not working offline at all, so nothing funny for me in a long time. Sure would be nice to have some moments like this although I must say, though not a job here. there are some pretty funny moments here.

Hello my dear friend!
Tina has a very stressful job where she and others are in a very unfair environment. She is also going through a great deal of health issues. She comes here from time to time and shares a lot of the disappointments with her work and what ails here. We all try really hard to always be here for here with humble advice and shed a few smiles.
What she is explaining is that although where she works is not so great that at times the employees themselves create fun moments. I find sometimes that we have to tolerate really bad employment because it is the only way to pay bills and live. It is not good for us at times but then when we have moments like Tina mentions in her discussion, it gives for a momentary smile and laughter which for a few moments makes you forget all the bad things at work.
So sorry my friend my migraines are so bad that they are causing me to log in later each day.
@Tina surekha is such a sweetie here in myLot and enjoys participating and being really active. She will from time to time enter a discussion, because she is always willing to learn more and more. She has grown a lot here on myLot and I am always willing to re-explain to the best of my ability so she can too can continue to enjoy her time here. She is good about spotting good members/topics and so when she is interested in topics she will ask for a little clarification. It takes really caring and special people to always be willing to learn and share new things.
Hope all is well Tina.

Hope your migraines are better. Yes, I do have to start discussions like this to help let people know that there are Good days with things going on. Right now even though I think things are better on my job, there are things still unknown which I am waiting to see what the results will be. It has been interesting, but at least I am still employed.

Well, at my last job we had a guy call and threaten to kill the president. Why he did that I don't know. He was a little crazy and mixed his threats in with knock knock jokes. They had to call in the threat, and someone from Secret Service came down to interview my coworker who had taken the call.1 person likes this

When I worked in one office we dealt with lots of older people.
When they got phone calls asking for a supervisor, the person would put them on hold and ask another person if they wanted to be a supervisor. Often the clients would only believe a man could be supervisor, so they would get the male clerk to take the call.
One time it was transferred to the head of the entire department and the person didn't believe she was the head, because she wasn't a man.
We could tell that really upset her - she SLAMMED her office door!

Yes, it would be an issue some of the days I work if people were looking to speak with Men supervisors instead of women as there are more women supervisors than men. But it is interesting sometimes to see what people are really expecting.

Well, it would be nice if I worked for a Call Center sometimes that was funner to be at, and had more incentives instead of always being so negative. In a lot of ways it is interesting when you have people that are Happy with your Service and can thank you for it, but then there are days where even though you have people like this you have to shed a little humor into it just to help make the day go by faster.

Hiya KH,
I have had some funny incidents yes but I won´t put any of them on here as they were when I worked in the Hotels.
When I was a Telephonist there were some funny ones too but you were not supposed to laugh out loud.
I did however get the giggles so bad I had to ask permission to go to the Bathroom and try and stop there.
The Girls were really wicked some of the tricks they would get up to are too numerous to mention as well.
You must have had a good evening with all of your Workmates there sounds like it at least.xxx

It was a Fun evening for a change, and one where you find out that it is worth to have a little Fun with someone. When you have people that are calling all the time and being annoying if you can have a little Fun with them hopefully in time they will realize it is time to hang up and move on. If not maybe they are just needing someone to talk too?

I usually am the one who makes things interesting. I am not patting myself on the back or anything....but I am kind of full of it if you know what I mean...Like one time someone left a stuffed rat to scare me...well I saved it for a couple of years then returned it by putting it in their lunch cooler...facing the top so when she opened it guess what was staring at her! LOL...she screamed..and swore! But everyone got a great laugh...even her after she got past the shock.

Hi Tina,
I worked for 35 years in the criminal Justice field and could tel you a lot of funny things but I'm not real sure that here is the right place to tell them. Might get into some privacy issues.

When I worked for the telephone company we used to get a call from a guy with multiple personalities. I would see him downtown sometimes dressed as a woman. He had quite a reputation around town as just being a nut and always in a bad mood. I have always been interested in this syndrome and I would take extra time with him. He would want to place a person-to-person phone call to his mother. THis is when he was really feeling badly. She would take the call most of the time. This was fine but there were times if he got upset that he would change personalities right there on the phone. It was the weirdest thing listening to a man over the phone at the beginning of the call and then having him change to a woman's voice part way through. Still gives me chills.

When I worked at the hospital, there were a lot of bad nights because of the fact that we would lose patients. However, we also had a lot of patients that were frequent fliers to where we would feel like we really knew the patients. Well, this one patient was a frequent flyer and he was supposed to get a cath in the morning, so we had to do a groin prep on him. The girl whose patient he was went in to give the groin prep, only to see that he was taking care of his business with his hand. We laughed about that for weeks. Of course we also really mourned him when he did pass away.

I handle payment disputes, customer assistance, queries, etc.. about our website, which is like WikiHow or YahooAnswers. I've had this one caller who was trying to follow-up a pizza order.
Another one informed me that her wedding dress is on its way and that I didn't have to worry. I just said "okay" thinking it would be best since it would end the call faster.
Some people really have to watch what they're dialling. Then again, it helps my Average Handling Time (AHT), which then helps my stats so I'm thinking otherwise.

I'm having something similiar to that happening at my house. This guy it sounds like he is from India calls the house saying that we called his representative to lower our credit card bills and we keep telling him we aren't interested. He will call right back and we will tell him to take our number off his calling list and he will say no and argue and call right back. When you call the number it says that it is unconnected. He uses a different number on different days but we recognize his voice and he uses the same sales scam pitch. Next time if he talks first I'm thinking about saying loudly scam alert scam alert and then talk quietly Your location has been sent to the fbi fraud department just to see if that stops him LOL. He is so rude and gives so much attitude!
