Security mailboxes

Our neighborhood has security mailboxes. Everyone has their own key. When the mailman opens the back of the mailbox, he sees everyones individual boxes and can just sort the mail into the boxes. On our side, there is a lip that makes the box a little smaller. So, once in awhile a mailman will not remember that and put a packaged book or something that is a tight fit into the box. Then, when we try to get it out from our side...it won't come out...it gets stuck in the box. You either leave it for the mailman to take out the next day and put on the porch, or you can try to tear up the box with a knife or screwdriver without tearing up whatever is inside the package. That happened today. Hubby came in the house just ranting at how the crazy mailman filled up the box with a package and he couldn't get it out. What was he thinking? Wonder what's in the package? Guess I'll have to wait to find out.

I am sure that was very frustrating for you, but I understand that they do not want the mail to be stolen. I hope he did not damage the contents. Guess you will have to wait for him to solve the mystery.

It is common for the mailman to put packaged books etc. on our front porch. There is never a problem. It was just strange for him to cram a box into our small mailbox and expect us to be able to get it out. Hubby caught him when he came today, and the mailman had to take it out from the back and give it to him. So, no damage.
