Well since these UTI's cannot seem to go away, I have to go in and have a cystascopy and CTscans of my bladder. Not looking forward to the scope test. My pain threshold is not the best with all the pain I have on a daily basis. Since they don't put you out, they may be pulling me off the ceiling. Just took my anxiety pill so I won't freak out. Its funny I have a good medical background but you know what they say...medical professionals do not make good patients Hope everyone else has a better day than me!

Why aren't they giving you twilight sedation? I had a cysto and had twilight sedation because it is painful to be awake to have it done.

Maybe Obama's health care has kicked in on the elderly and disabled and we don't get to have the luxuries!!! Who knows. Was just glad my hubby went with me so I could hold his hand.

They say if you are in Menopause you will get them more and often then people who are not. I just hearad this about a week ago but then i dont know what age in life you are at and if you even had kids. Im sorry to hear about them, they arent fun but i have only had one in my life and it was so painful i actually went to the emergency room to seek pain relief and then i thought i was passing a kidney stone again and so thats the reason i actually went and it turned out to be i had a UTI and then a cyst on my kidney that will cause pain from time to time which isnt fun. Goodluck today.

Your right about people with medical backgrounds being bad patients. I think it is because they know what is REALLY going to happen. Doctors always want to tell you what to expect and I don't want to know. I just want them to do it and get it over with. Won't you get any type of anesthesia? I am a sissy and want to be put to sleep for everything.

I think Bagarad is right about the patient being told ahead of time what will happen, the thing I don't want is for them to tell me what they are doing as they do it. They always lie anyway. It is easy for them to say there will be a little pinch, when it is very painful for you. I know some people like to know what is going on, I am just not one of them.

I think if there is likely to be some pain involved, the doctor should warn you -- if for no other reason than you might need a ride home. I once had some fertility testing and the doctor said I needed an Xray. I was very surprised when the doctor himself showed up for the procedure. He told me then they would have to shot some dye into my tubes, and it was extremely painful. I was not prepared and did not have a ride home and I had to wait there until I had recovered enough to drive home. I read the doctor the riot act for not warning me. He said if he'd told me, I probably wouldn't have had it done. And he was right. I think the patient has a right to know what she is getting into instead of being deliberately deceived.

I just had a friend go through a knee replacement... all I know is if its me give me something anything to knock me out... Heck smack me with a frying pan! My dear friend was awake for the whole ordeal and she said she could hear everything. won't pain anyone with descriptive deals. I know some people are given some form anesthesia, but my friend is a bit older and has a heart condition but still... I would have opted for headphones or something. Yikes! I am not a good patient either!

Sorry to hear about that. Hope that your pain will soon go away. Just take plenty of water for your UTI or coconut juice, I guess it can also help in a way. Good luck for all your tests.

I have drank water, the only other drink I drink is grape juice, cranberry juice, and the doctor told me to go off the cranberry juice as the acidity can effect the bladder also. So everything I was doing and reading was not working The tests went ok. Now on to the kidney tests since they found RBC (red blood cells) in my urine. Thanks for your concern it was very nice to know we have good friends and neighbors here on mylot!

I'm so sorry that you are not well. I know that people who got medical background are not good patient because I have medical background to . Well I hope they will find out what is going on, you will have medication and everything will be fine. Did you drink cranberry juice? It can help you in the future. Best of Luck!

Yes had a long sheet of things to do and thing to not do. I was drinking cranberry juice, and the doctor told me to lay off it would be to acidic on my bladder. So there went one old wives tales. Ever seen the newest release of Willy Wonka? I was eating so many blueberries because that is supposed to help, and I should have turned blue. Ate a container of yogurt every day making sure it had the good bacteria needed for UTI's The tests both come out good but I have RBC (red blood cells) in mmy urine. Not so good So now we are gonna start on the kidneys. So Yea more testing! Thanks for your advice. They gave me a very strong antibiotic before we left the office. Then we went to eat. When my husband turned the car in the driveway I started feeling nauseas and wound up laying on the bathroom floor for over an hour. I looked like a scene from drinking to much LOLOL I think hubby was scared. Walking around made my stomach worse so it was easier to just lay in the floor and hug the good old toilet bowl. God I am so glad I don't drink...I would hug the toilet bowl probably more than my husband

If I was there I would offer to take you for ice cream afterward. Ice cream doesn't fix anything but it sure tastes good! I too have a number of up coming visits with doctors and I can tell you right now that I am not overly thrilled with any of it. On the one bright side moment is that the doctors now only do pap tests every three years... so Yippy for me :) I don't get that this year... next year :( I hope your anxiety pill kicks in... if not then I look forward to the discusssion on how many peeps it took to pry you off the ceiling. I hope you have a better day tomorrow!

I had a cystoscopy quite some time ago and I was put under anaesthetic. As well as the UTIs, I was also having majorly painful kidney infections...like, one after the other. Strangely enough, even though they found nothing obviously wrong, my problems disappeared and I've had none since. Sorry my response is so late - I'm in catch up mode....hope you are over it by now.

I am finding Life pretty much S**ks after the 50's I have come up with some pretty unusual illnesses caring for others coming back from Nam and Desert Storm. When I was in the Army. Barb hope your stress test will go well. And No life is NOT GRAND unless I am doing what I want to do Thanks Bagarad yea the procedure was not as bad as I thought its the anticipation. I just don't have a good threashold on pain. Worked in the medical field to long and KNOW what the procedures are and some can really freak me out when they will not put us out!

I've done three of those, and I'd take them over any procedure involving my urinary tract any day of the week.

How did that appointment go? I think I had that test done back in January and I have had a couple of renal scans since then. I hate those, but what can you do? I hope they are able to get some kind of answer for your problem. Have a great weekend!!!

UTI's and urologist visits are terrible. You have my sympathy. I had plenty of UTI's right after I got married and I was in grad school. They just kept coming back. Finally the doctor gave me a low-dose yellow pill that was preventive in nature and I took that for several months. I hope by now your tests today are just a painful memory. Did you land on the ceiling or not? Hope you feel better by now. How did it go?

I think because I was a medic in the Army that they think I can withstand any pain! Go Tuesday to get results of ultra sound and xrays. the girl starts explaining the ultra sound to me and I looked at her and said, do what you got to do but you tell me there is a baby in there and I will be front page news tomorrow!

Keep us posted. Should I hope they find something treatable so they can stop tormenting you with tests, or that they find nothing and have no more tests to torment you with?
