Mama Nature says "Pass the Tums"
There are times when we all feel a need for some Tums. Sometimes, that gas can get away from us at the worst time, and inconvenience others.
That goes for the planet Earth as well as we Humans that live on her. When Mother Earth gets gassy, she really starts to vent. Humans best scatter, because you can bet volcanoes will blow.
The International Space Station caught her venting in beautiful, often destructive, volcanic splendour.

Hi!
I've never really experienced a direct volcano eruption but there was a time in my younger years when one of the volcanoes here erupted and we've experienced grey days because of the ashes. The volcano was so far from us, a few provinces far but still, the ashes reached our town. I even remember ashes coming inside our house. I did not know the gravity of the situation then because I was too young to realize it. But that event wiped out towns, people, houses near that volcano. It was really tragic.
We have our own mountain here in our town but they say it's not an active volcano because it emits gases through many hot springs here and there. There is also what we call the "mud spring" in the mountain where it emits sulfur so they say that as long as the mountain has outlets, it will not explode. I am hoping for that.

We have what is called a 'volcanic plug' called Thumb Butte. It is less than a half hour's drive, and a determined athlete can walk to it. Between ten and fourteen million years ago, this volcano tossed rocks all over the landscape. It's been 'sleeping' ever sense.

...that is a very good question. I don't know the answer to that question.
