big talk

There are quite a few MyLotters who find that much of what passes for discussions here is, to their taste, banal. I'm one of them, so I thought I might start off an interest targeted at the BIG talkers - those who like a subject they can get their teeth (or dentures) into.
So, let's get started. Any volunteers for the first topic?

Big is not LOUD! There are many that sport their rhetoric not caring whether they are agreed with or not. I am guilty as charged though. Most of my discussions were banal and refelcted a need for me to escape from the world that I then inhabited. I do not think that we have to engage in deep and meaningful discussion all the time but I do agree absolutely that a constant diet of "Shall I dump my boyfriend" or "does myLot pay" palls very rapidly. I stopped posting discussions here because I was unable to discriminate between a discussion and a poll. My discussions were deleted because I was polling apparently when I thought that I was simply seeking opinion. C'est la vie I suppose.

Yeah, I don't see this as supplanting other interests, for me or anyone, but as a place to come to when we need something substantial to chew on.

How about "Love yourself and help save planet earth"? This in fact is my aim in life as I feel if one loves oneself the whole world will be a swell place. If I love myself why would I commit sins as that would give me a guilty conscience and that would be enough to steal my happiness. Having said that, there will be no takers for such topics grandpa. No one wants to think. Just check the responses one gets for serious topics. This site as you know also helps people earn their cents and every response received if it is commented on the one who makes those comments earns and so one aims at getting more responses and therefore topics such as "What do you have in your bag" are in demand!

Well yes, that is why I have begun this interest. There is a handful of thinkers here, and I'm hoping that eventually we can attract many of them to BIG TALK. It doesn't mean we can't also have a bit of fun with small-talk back-chat among the serious stuff, but mostly I see it as a chance for such people to blow off some serious steam.
Your suggested topic is not dissimilar to one sharra2 suggested, so why not start up a separate topic here on that one? We'll both join in, I proise you.

Would've been nice if you'd started it here as suggested. Oh well, such is life.

If I had started it here others would not see it as they would only see your topic!
. Anyway hope to see you there!

Good to see you here, and hey! it's your chance to get to the top of a leaderboard from which, I gather, it is almost impossible to slip from - there are people in top tens who haven't been on the site for years lol.

So you actually did it. You went and started the BIG Talk interest!
Count me in! I do not mind getting deep into serious conversations at times, so I will enjoy participating in this interest. But I will still chat about the weather and the colour of my underwear in other places from time to time too.

HaHa! The very next email in my inbox asked me in the discussion "What type of topping do you like on your Nachos!" We won't see that one in here!

Now one shouldn't use the term "topping" when talking to someone called grandpa_lash lol. But calling my girl Nachos might cause a little confusion.
Good to see you here, and let's hope there's some lightness in among the weight.
