You think some one would have SHOT Marcos?

Many people, mostly in the province where Marcos originated, still misses the days that Marcos ruled with an iron fist in the whole country. They miss the order, yet they probably ignored all the killings, all the human rights violations, all the plunderings and ugliness that was the Marcos Dictatorship. My grandma when she was still alive tells me of a much better time when people are honest and disciplined not because they are scared but because they know it is the right thing to do. That was the time when the roads and sidewalks of Manila are so clean you can lie down on them without fear of getting a disease, of the Pasig River so clean and pristine you can see fishes swimming below it. The NPA pestilence actually thrived under Marcos' rule. People who are otherwise peaceful were forced into extremes when the dictator-controlled military hunted them. So the membership of NPA swelled to an all time high of 25,000. Right now only 5,000 of them remains and dwindling. We are much better than the people who thinks the Marcos rule is the best that happened in their life. Time already proved that, and I believe in the future the whole country will unite to the ideal that absolute rule and corruption does not make a country strong.

Well, opinions differ from person to person and we really don't know what Marcos' true motives are in declaring Martial Law. Some say Martial Law made the Philippines a greater country, even surpassing countries like Singapore and Hongkong. Others say it was the worst era since the Philippines have had Presidents. As for assassinating Marcos, I guess that would be as hard as hell seeing that he controls the police and the military so his security is tripled.
