basically x-factor destroyed idols in europe, its created by Simon to get rid of idol, its not really idol's rival, its also owned by fremantle media and aired by fox.its idol's replacement in europe . what makes x-factor different is that its more similar to "the voice" those 4 judges will become trainers.
1 judge will mentor young boys
1 judge will mentor young girls
1 judge will mentor groups
1 judge will mentor old people
and elimination is not fully controlled by public, so little girls cant make cute boys who cant sing dominate again .
audition rounds is similar to idol but it will be different later, contestants can have bands, orchestra and dancers, there is more behind the scenes. if a judge runs out of protoge, he/she will be fired.
So sad Americans are too attached with idol, ratings are bad.

ratings would have not suffered if they didnt chose wednesday and thursday as airing schedule . those 2 days have too much competition. it should have been monday and tuesday

Just to add something up with regard to the ratings' decline, I personally think that replacing Cheryl Cole with Nicole Sche..Shcerz..Scherzin.. errr.. Nicole of Pussycat dolls is also a factor. I mean, I love Cheryl better than Nicole, her accent was so sexy. Plus she's very beautiful! :)

Nicole is supposed to be the host of this show, but for some unknown reason she is promoted as a judge. ithink they should show more talents and less of the delusionals.

Personally I like the idea that they allow people of all ages from 12 on up, and allow groups, etc. I have always thought American Idol was not fair and leaving the older people out. Maybe those who think it is too Idolish because Simon and Paula are in it, might need to just watch and see. But so far I like it, and think it will be a Big hit.

I think this show needs to be fun as the UK version , the american version needsxto focus on talent so it will be anti-idol.

Actually to me it seemed like a duplicate of America's Got Talent - except it only had singers and not other types of performers. I feel like we Already have Idol for singing, and we already have America's Got Talent where singers can go too - do we really need xfactor?? After the first 1/2 an episode, I decided not to watch. I'm going to tune in when they get down to a top 20 or whatever they are planning to do. Maybe once they get past auditions it will be better. We'll see.

I watched Uk & Norway version of xfactor and i can say its better than idol, elimination is not fully controlled by voters, most of the voters are 12 year old girls who votes for their crush but they dont even buy the album of their crush after winning. I want x-factor to replace idol but it wont happen because of americans too attached with idol.

maybe it's just Simon, since he was an Idol judge.. the only difference is the contestants can be in groups..I love the X factor more though since they are more strict in letting people in, their standards are higher.

and you forgot kids and grandmas can join too, i like diverse age groups plus its cool to see an older singer getting a break. i wish ratings will improve so idol wont be back. i really want idol to be canceled but its not gonna happen cos idol fanatics ignored xfactor. usa is like 1 of the few countries with idol left. Americans dont want to let go of idol.
