I've got a Canon 500d dslr camera and I'm just starting to learn how to use it. Though I already know the basics, I am having a hardtime taking pictures at Night or in dark places. Its either its blurry, or cant even see the subject. i am also having a hard time taking pictures of moving objects. I want to learn and I want to learn using the manual settings. Can anyone please help me?

hiya shadjee1! i've tried out that camera before, also known as the 'Digital Rebel T1i' or 'Kiss X3 Digital'...it's quite a cool piece of photography hardware. using the camera on manual mode, is almost similar in nature to using any camera in manual mode. meaning that you need some elementary knowledge of the functionality of aperture & shutter speed. its the combination of these two factors, together with your creative composition that creates the photograph that you want. for night photography & action photography, the most important thing is: i) the steadiness of your camera at low shutter speeds, and ii) the ISO setting (or ASA, if you're from the U.S.)...where the higher ISO rating used, the better for capturing night images. but then there is a trade off...with higher ISO settings comes a compromise on the sharpness and quality of the image (grainy effect when used on films, and pixelation effect when used on digital cameras) the best way to learn is always experience but then again, you can also check out some online tutorials. the ones that i'd like to recommend are below...as they are pretty basic and easy to understand, even by beginners. do check them out...hope it helps! http://silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/toc.html if you're looking for a tutorial that deals specifically with camera shake when capturing night & action photos, you can go directly to: http://silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/compose_expose/shake.html
