so vegetarians around the world always talk about taking lives of animals just to eat. But well they still are taking the lives of the plants to eat also, so vegetarians and those that eat meat are just equal right? If Nature does not want us to eat animals then why they are composed of consumable products and not some hard substances like gold, aluminum or just normal rock. Animals are meant to be eaten not just by humans but also by other predators. Obviously i' on the meat eater's side, hehe how about you? what can you say about this topic?

I dislike that you are trying to start an argument with this. We get it, you're a meat eater - why do vegetarians bother you so much? Unless PETA has been picketting outside of your home or place of work and constantly annoying you, I can't see why this would even matter. Let people eat what they wanna eat. Tolerance is key. Anyway, since you started it though, I'll have to beg to differ..... Why is it that we can't eat ANIMALS raw without the potential of getting SICK with e coli and plenty of other diseases? Why must it be cooked - when you can eat a carrot, raddish, piece of lettuce, tomato, or any other veg or fruit raw - without having to cook it? And furthermore, you could literally find a way to eat almost anything. You could eat crickets - which are also made out of some kind of meat and organs, but that doesn't mean it's practiced in most parts of the world. And also, a general knowledge of science tells us that "gold, aluminum, and normal rocks" would not be able to sustain any kind of life form. Those are inanimate. Also - humans are made out of meat? Should we eat humans? I mean, after all, if your argument holds up (which it does not, sorry) anything made out of meat was made to be eaten. I am a vegetarian and a very tolerant one at that. I live with meat eaters and I don't care that they eat meat around me - I've been veg. for about 10 years. I think your discussion is kind of hilarious.... But mostly ridiculous.

Excellent points you put forth, maezee! I agree with each one of your points and I am also a vegan. It is due to my family and caste tradition that I am a vegan, but continuing it is my choice. I too don't have problem with my friends eating non-veg around me, but it's just that I don't want to. But maezee, discussing is the job of people here. I think we should not object to his starting this topic. Maybe his way of arguing didn't go right with you, but we can anyway place ours right?

I eat meat but not daily, sometimes not for weeks, sometimes once or twice a week. I am not a vegetarian and if I don't eat meat it's not because I feel pity for the animal but I am not tasty for it or I find it way too expensive. I think it is hard to be a vegetarian. Just not eating meat is not enough. Animals are killes also for their fur, we use the skin (leather) to make clothes/jackets/sofas/shoes etc out of it. Also... who decides which animal you can eat and which you can't? Do vegetarians kill ants and flies and muquitos or do they keep them alive also? There is not more I can say about this topic. If you are a vegetarian because you feel pity for some animal then you should ask yourself why pity for 1 animal and not for the other one? And why not feel pity for plants? Then you also should not smoke, drive a car, buy new stuff because this all harms animals and plants (nature) too. So how far do you go?

You have made a very good point! All vegetable plants are alive and have a life just as animals do. Its natural and normal to eat both plants and animals. Indeed that's why they were created! Those higher on the food chain eat those who are lower, and there is nothing the vegetarians can do about it!Ha ha!

Yeah but i'm really pissed about some of the vegetarians, i remember this particular story when i was in 5th grade, so being a kid im eating chicken sandwich and this friend of mine is eating a veggy sandwich (dont remember in particular but i saw green leaves in his sandwich) then maybe his parents are vegetarians, then he told me that im literally killing animals just by eating animal food products, and im still pissed until now 5 years later !

At least you don't see plants cry, howl, make noise when they are being pulled out or weeded. Plants obviously has life but you will not feel guilty eating it because they don't suffer the same thing as the animals that we eat like chicken, goat, sheep, cow, etc. It is just a personal decision if one likes to be vegetarian or not. But life is not more about eating foods only so we cannot just say if your non vegetarian, you are already rude about animals, because its not. We also need to respect peoples' decision and preference. I can be both vegetarian and non vegetarian because I cannot see it balance if I only eat pure veggies, my body needs protein which red meats supply. I don't see anything wrong with that as long as vegetarians also would respect those who are meat lovers here.

yes, plants are alive but that doesn't mean they are the same as animals. Ever wondered why plants and animals are distinguished? just a few quick points for ya to ponder about: do plants feel pain? do plants have a central nervous system (aka brain)? are plants intelligent? if you are worried about plants there are many you don't have to destroy completely, some even offer their fruits to us and to other animals. That's like cutting your hair, you won't feel hurt when cutting it. not only plants are called alive. Every single cell that they and you are composed of are called alive. But you only feel pain if your neurons are activated and transmit a signal to your brain which interprets the incoming data as pain and your mind really won't like that. Other cells which are not immediately ''connected'' to the brain neither hurt you if destroyed nor do they feel hurt themselves. Still, it worth to discuss this topic as every living being ''wants'' to exist, be it consciously or subconsciously in the case of a plant. So taking away life in an unjustified manner like deforestation or burning plants indeed represents a moral/ ethical issue. So I think the more crucial question is: at which point do we destroy plant life, when it is still growing and ''full of life'' or when it ''is ready'' to be harvested anyway. Those plants which are ripe are about to die anyway and put all their energy into their ''offspring'', i.e. the seeds/ fruits which on their part are alive, too but in a dormancy so they won't ''feel'' anything when being ''killed'' :D Cheers

nice topic for discussion, my answer would be that there are some animals on earth which needs to be eaten for the balance of the eco-system, so it our responsibility as a human being to consume these animal and balance the ecosystem.... wat say??

isn't also our fault that there are already endangered species and extinct ones because we are hunting and consuming them? That isn't 'balance' you are talking about right? :P

Well, I am a vegetarian and I do support not eating animals. True, plants do also have life. However, they are not so much active and it is a different thing to kill someone in flesh who is so full of life. Regards,
