Do You enjoy animation in Movies,be it Old school Disney style animation (Snow White,Dumbo,Jungle Book)where every frame was drawn by hand,or using modern Computer technology (Toy Story,The Incredibles,Tangled) to assist or even replace the animator? Snow White dates from the '40's,and it took video distribution to get it out on the shelves where people could buy a copy..I remember seeing "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" in the cinema as a kid, then more recently "Aladdin" (With Robin Williams voicing the Genie..) and following Pixar's rise to fame after seeing the little gem shorts that were "Luxo Jr. and "Knick Knack"..So I've seen the rise of the machines ..What's your preference? Nostalgia,or "It doesn't matter how they make it,as long as it's entertaining"?!

I do like the old school animation but, I do also love the newer styles with Toy story etc. When we went to Disney, it was nice to see an actual animator drawing at the old style board as you could see each layer he was doing to create a single clip. I guess it takes a lot of work on the old way even though I know it probably does with the computer style too.

Yep,both methods would be intensive and time consuming work..IIRC,a movie in the cinema runs at 24 frames a second..jn EACH of those frames, the movement generated is individually created by hand or with help of a computer..I wonder how many drawings that would represent for "the Simpsons" ,which I'm reading is being kept in production to bring it to the 25 Year Mark?

My Father used to take cheap notepads and draw characters page by page that would "move" when we flipped the pages. It was wonderful. Joys were simple back then. Kids today have to have a constant circus going on around them at all times in order to be happy. I find this very sad. My Father was friends with Walt Disney and did a lot of pro-bono work at Disney world for Walt. He designed the servo mechanism that holds space mountain on its tracks...there has never been an accident due to this at Disney World. He also did some of the technology that makes the ghost ride with you and the talking heads etc. It has been fun watching animation develop over the years. I wish I still had one of the little notepads my Father made for us when we were kids.
