When you are born, you usually cannot change your race or nationality or ethnic background. I guess for some people you don't really have a choice in your religion too unless you sacrifice some other important things(like family) in your life. And in history, this race or religion or group you are born into did some 'bad' things and may represent you 'badly' according to their history. Now after you are born, people may still be angry about the things your 'group' have done in the past. How do you deal with these people? I don't think people should forget the past and there are many things that have been done that cannot be forgiven but do you think it's racism if you hate the race of the person who hates yours? Have you ever been counter attacked before? How did you deal with it?

History has a lot of stories of injustice and racial unrest. I am a caucasian female with some Native American blood. Now the Native American have some very sad stories to tell. Like the Trail of Tears and such as that. Their story is a very sad one and the whites show themselves as greedy and thoughtless.

Hi Lore
Good discussion. I must say that I agree with you when you say that we should forget the past and move ahead but unfortunately this doesnt happen with many around and even if you try forgetting and moving ahead, they will always come up and pull you to your past.
I do not have any hatred towards anyone on the planet and feel that we all are doing things that we are destined to do. Though there are some sects and a few bunch of people who have gone astray and they believe theirs is the right way to do justice but then, they are the people who help me get my faith on Humanitty back - everytime, I see or read about a terror attack, I also find people who have withstood united during such times and they do bring back hopes that the world can be and will be a better place someday.

Most race and religion has either done some bad things in the past or are still doing them now . But as long as i wasn't the one who hurt you, i will always stay strong and firm with defending my race and religion not by justifying what was done bad in the past or present but by making the person(s) realize they have to deal with me as an individual.

If it comes to bad things people did in the past all races are having that history.
The african people sold eachother as slaves all over the world and even as slavery stopped they still were doing that.
And all those (western) countries who had colonies all over the world. Were they great people?
Already ages ago we had kind of pirates who forced themselves up on the people and called themselves king, or who were robbing others. Church was (is) killing around.
We have had all kind of wars. I don't know if I can say one was or is worser as the other. For those who are victim of it (sorry no winners) it's different as for those who just heard about it.
I do think we should forget about the past because that is what forgiveness means.
Also I don't see any reason to hate people who had anchestors once who did what ever they did for reasons which were all different and we will never know.
If someone doesn't like to know the real you it's not your problem but that person his/her problem. It says something about that person not about you.
We have to move on. The reason why people say we should not forget about the past is because they want us to learn from it. But the fact is we don't. We only keep hate alive. Useless hate and fights and wars and most people don't even know anymore how it once started.
I would say to everybody: start minding your own business, go live your own life and make the best out of it. No matter who or what your are, in the end we are all the same. We all have a skin, brains and we will blood when we are hurt red.
And yes I do say it's racism if you hate a race for no matter what kind of reason.
I ignore, people told me many times to leave to my own country. Although I am born here and so was my mother. I only wonder how come people can be so stupid. And if there is one thing I can't stand it's stupidity.
