I thought Napoli was different, but I was wrong!

I don't want to make excuses to Bayern for not winning against Napoli, but I guess the fact that Napoli played so dirty and the referee was so weak was a great factor which influenced the outcome of the Champions League game on Tuesday. The game started very well for my favorites, Bayern, with Toni Kroos scoring in the 99th second of the game, after a great ball from Boateng. This goal and the fact that Napoli looked shaky in the defense made me believe that it will be an easy game, but I was wrong. Although Napoli hasn't shot on the goal of Bayern, they have equalized, after Lahm making a mistake and Badstuber trying to block the pass, was unlucky and scored in his own goal, ending the record of 1147 minutes without conceeded goal. In the second half Bayern has had many opportunities to score, and they are to blame for not doing so, especially Gomez who missed a penalty and Muller who didn't hit the back of the net from close range. But the way how Olegario Benquerenca did his job as a referee was very irritating and Napoli players were dirty, making harsh tackles, hitting the opponents, diving, simulating and complaining a lot. I thought Napoli was a fair team, but the way they played or acted yesterday night make me not respecting them anymore. What is your view on this game? Did you notice this dirty style also?

Actually Bayern should have won the match easily. First they took the lead via Kroos. Then they had that penalty which was missed by Gomez. That could have killed off the match for Bayern. Unfortunately it came back to hurt Bayern as Napoli managed to get an equalizer and share the spoils from the match. Unfortunately, I did not watch the whole match, so I do not know whether the game was dirty or not. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Bayern should have won this, they have had plenty of chances, but they didn't. The penalty for Gomez was after Napoli equalizing, and he should have scored it, but I don't know why did the player who made the penalty shoot it. It is an unwritten law that the penalty should be executed by a different player. I was looking on youtube to find Aronica's or de Sanctis's acting, but I didn't find any. I thought Napoli is trying to play like a great team, but they have disappointed me. I was so mad, and I wanted Bayern to win with every price, considering that two Bayern supporters were stabbed before the game by two coward Napoli fans. I hope they will be revenged in Munchen, both the supporters and the players. On a Bayern forum the fans ask for a humiliation of Napoli for everything they did.

Oh!! I did not hear about the fans being stabbed. That is really bad. I think such hooliganism has to end. After all this is just a game and life is more important than a game!! Cheers! Ram

I guess those hooligans don't really care for the game, they just want to make trouble. Or who knows how their minds work. Anyway, this is terrible that things like this still happen.

I didn't watch the match but the scoreline reflected just the way i wished for. I'm always with the underdogs and i won't believe Napoli players would resort to dirty plays to earn the match. I know Napoli's players are fast and perphaps it's a matter of mistimed tackles? I don't wish that Napoli is a dirty team since they are new to the champion's league, and i love to see them go far.

No, there were not the mistimed tackles which made me upset. They have just kicked and pushed, simulated and acted, just to influence the referee in a way that would gave them advantage. I guess these are things which are typical especially to Italian teams.

I did not watch the game so it would be unfair to comment. But from I have noticed, teams from certain leagues (which I hate to watch whenever they are on tv) seems to play it dirty, with lots of simulation. They includes, Spanish (Barca inclusive), Portugese and, yes, Italian leagues. So what you have said about Napoli could be true.

There were two major things in this game which were typical "Italian". Aronica has fallen from next to Scheinsteiger at a corner, after a regular pushing, which happens at every corner. Schweinsteiger has pushed Aronica in the chest, but he has put his hands at his own face, playing like he was punched. But when he was on the ground, he peaked between the hands to see what the referees is going to make and then he acted even harder. Another "highlight" was when the goalie de Sanctis acted like Muller has kicked him in his face, even if Muller hasn't even touched him. And there were many other small, dirty things, which I thought Napoli doesn't use, but I was wrong. They have made me sick, they are nothing more than cheaters, who want to win without fair play. Of course, every player makes things look harsher than they were, but the Italian teams are just overreacting.
