Halloween Events in Schools

I was lucky to attend a school (The Forum School, which educates mostly autistics like me), where Halloween events are tolerated. We march around the school in a happy costume parade and had dances in the gymnasium, all festooned with fall/Halloween decorations. One of my high points in the parade was dancing, dressed up as the Disney Princess Mulan, in 1998.
But upon moving to Florida, things changed for me. One can't wear costumes to school due to dress code and safety issues. Events on the holiday can't be held due to standardized testing preparation. Here, it's the maligned FCAT, Florida's Controversial Assessment Test (sic). On top of that, schools acknowledge the population of Christians whose denominations view it as an occultic holiday. My denomination (Roman Catholic) doesn't, by the way.
But some classes I attended compensated for costume-free All Hallows' Eve. In my film class, we watched Poltergeist, a 1982 Steven Spielberg thriller. I had a blast viewing it and had no nightmares!
If your schools have anything really special on Halloween, such as a parade, costume dance, or whatever, mention it here. If yours doesn't, mention an activity that fits the curriculum and holiday, like making horror stories with vocabulary words of the week.
