Why is such glamour attached to be able to 'paste'???

Hello fellows... I've been on myLot for more than an year, maybe 2 years. It's been a terrific experience. In the first week of joining, I learned that we're not allowed to paste anything. I was quite annoyed, but I understood its importance very soon. That feature has kept myLot clean of SPAM etc.
Yet, every now and then, I read a post in which the writer is joyful, shouting like red indians that he has completed 500 posts and now will be allowed to paste things. They don't remember that we're after quality not quantity. We're not looking for 500 posts but a rating of 500... They forget this! Then they complain about not being able to paste...
But why, may I ask, does one have to paste anything here!??! As far as I see all discussions are different. Naturally, the replies to them will be different, right? So where does the 'need to paste' arise??? Or are these people planning to SPAM the site n destroy what has been a good work of many years' toil???
Please share....

Some of us have a slow connection. Sometimes myLot is slow too.
If we can copy/paste then we can copy our posts jusy in case they get lost and them paste them ibstead of typing them out again from scratch.
Newer users can't do this and it can be frusttating for them.
Other than using it to post links or part of another post for reference that is the only other time that I use it.

Oh great... Offline work!!! Is there anything that'll fetch more money? ;-)
yes, I'm sure many of them think that they'll paste things and make fast money... I think the admin should create small pop windows which let the new guys know the rules- one by one... You know reading the entire set of guidelines can get tedious...
Thanks a lot for writing here... Take care... Good luck with the offline...

Yes I'm not here as much as before. Offline has caught up with me.
I don't use it except in those circumstances.
Some think that they can use it to paste articles from other sites but they soon realise that it may not be used for that purpose, and sometimes they are no longer here when they understand because admin gives no warnings when things are already clear in the Guidelines.

When I finally reached the (500) milestone, I immediately thought to myself. Hmm I don't feel anything different. I was expecting to start feeling like something new and great was going to happen. lol
Actually, I am kidding but really I am not sure it is such a grand deal, as although I can copy/past I forget to do so sometimes and my participation is lost. I think while I was trying to achieve the milestone I thought about it all the time but ever since I achieved it I rarely do. lol
I do use it to quote the guidelines to new members so this is the only part I really like about being able to use it.

Your post, miss, comes very valuable here. You have achieved the milestone and you're allowed to paste data. But being a genuine myLotter, you don't see and advantage in that, unless it is absolutely necessary. Thanks a lot!
This post should set as a guidline to new guys...

I wouldn't know why but for me, I tried to reach 500 posts for me to browse myLot using my mobile phone. Opera Mini, a mobile phone browser, has some glitches that reads your texts as to be pasted to the text field of most sites. That means myLot will be reading your posts as something that has to be pasted even though you typed it yourself from your mobile phone. That's the main reason why I was happy when I reached 500 posts.

I don't think it's myLot's end. MyLot did a great job preventing new users from pasting to avoid spam and illegal links. I think Opera Mini should adjust instead. Although I don't think they would. They're not that interested on making it up for myLot, in my honest opinion.

I can think of two situations when copy/paste comes in handy. 1. When we have to link our response to anything that is available on the net as a support document and 2. When myLot plays truant in that it does not post our work within a certain amount of time, then if we copy the matter that can be pasted later after checking that it is not a duplicate post.

Having the ability to paste is good because some of us comes from countries with slow internet connection and there will be some kind of time out if our page didn't load in time. With that, our post won't go through and it's frustrating to retype everything again. With the 'paste' function, it makes things a lot easier for legit members. However, there's the con side of it, like u mention, some might abuse it.

Spammers will set on their evil work, the moment the paste feature is activated, no doubt about that...
Yes, I agree, it would be good if we had that feature for legit members and the admin has set a criteria already for that...

Thank you sir for starting this discussion. I was wondering about this and because my net is slow, I lose my writings most of the time and am not able to paste it after I reload the page. This happens to only the mylot site-wonder why? When will I be qualified in the right sense-500 posts or 500 + points?

Hi... Thanks for sharing... I'm sorry to hear about your web connection.. You must check with your service provider. As to the qualification that you wrote about, well its 500 points of reputation and not 500 posts. It allows you to paste data. Moreover, its a recognition... Think, how awfully good writer he/she is, who gains 500 points of rep....
Have a good day!

Hello Pearl,
Oh yes copy & paste feature is not available for mewbies here in MYLOT to avoid it from spammers and to keep this place neat and yes when the person reaches to 500 activity rating he/she understands it.
I was also excited that when i will reach 500 rating i will get that feature but the reality is i seldom use it.I only use it when i have to quaote someone's response/comment to my comment. And its also not feasible to copy and paste on each response i wonder how people use it.

Feasible!!! Its impossible... One can't paste something for each post... I mean, look at the variety of topics that we discuss. Some posts might run on the same lines, but it'd be impossible to hav same reply for any two of them...
As to the rating of 500; I wonder, what quality of writing one must have... A person who makes it 500 will deserve highest respect among the writers... :-)
Thanks for sharing...
