Knee Replacement

I was on MyLot a lot a few years ago and recently came back. While I was away I had both of my knees replaced. For one it has been over a year and a half since it was done and for the other it has been 9 months. I've been doing great with both and am very happy that I can walk much better than I was before I had them done. But back in June I sprained an ankle and had to use one of those fracture boots for a week or two which made getting up and down out of chairs difficult for my knees. Now I am having problems with my kneecaps being dislocated. One isn't as bad as the other but I have had to start physical therapy again to try to strengthen the muscles and tendons holding the kneecaps in place. If the therapy doesn't work, I was told that I might have to use a brace at least on the one knee to hold the kneecap in place. The only thing is, it's not back in the right place to start with. The therapists said my knee is very unstable. Has anyone else had this problem after having knee replacement surgery? Even with a brace I am glad to be able to walk freely, but I really don't want to have to have the brace and I especially don't want to have to have more surgery to correct the problem. This week is my last week of therapy until I see the surgeon again and that won't be until the first week of December. Also, I was not having much pain at all before this happened with the sprained ankle and now some of the pain is back even though I have had a steroid shot when the kneecap first got dislocated to help with the pain. The shot has started to wear off. I was not wanting to have to keep getting those shots.

Capirani, I am sorry to hear about your health problems, though glad to know you are feeling better. Have you been to the doctor for knee adjustments after the sprained ankle? You should be very careful and try to eat more healthy, especially focusing on foods with high calcium content to speed the healing of your joints. Foods high in anti-oxidant I also recommend. Search for online article titled YOU and Cancer by L'Afrique to see some good sources of anti-oxidant. You can also find article by following link from my Mylot profile. Be healthy and stay healthy!
