You don't see men dressed as women. You see men dressed as parodies of women. How many women do you really see wearing fishnets and heels after all? But I bet you see loads of women dressed in trousers, fleeces, T-shirts and other items you may find in your own wardrobe every day and never think twice about it.

Not too many fishnets but certainly plenty of heels on women. We have a Transvestite in the city here who wanders around in the most in congruous of female clothing. Men need to be taught to walk in heels too if they are going to wear them. The clip clop about rather than walk smoothly - mind I can think of a few women that do that too! You are right about women wearing men's clothes. But then they are unisex I suppose.

I think virtually every item I'm wearing this morning started life in the men's department. My T-shirt says girl power on the front though, so perhaps not that.
My cross dressing tendencies have spread to my kids. My eldest son has been at school this week wearing my tights to keep out the vicious wind that blows up his trouser legs at the bus stop.

LOL! That "cross-dressing tendency" is not a new thing. I actually know a few guys that wear/used to wear women's tights or leggings under their longjohns when working or hunting outside all day. It gives/gave them more layers and more warmth without being too bulky and uncomfortable, especially since they need to be able to move around easily while working and/or hunting.

Perhaps they are desperately seeking the Susan held inside them by years of socialisation into gender roles and politics that do not allow them, as men, to show their "feminine" side.

You don't see women dressing as men, simply because we do it so much that you don't notice anymore. Hiding in plain sight, so to speak. Maybe if you guys would don the shishnets and heels more often, it would no longer be noticed? Actually, better not. It's more fun to notice, than not to notice. According to the Bard, anyway. He invented it, didn't he?

Hmmm are you sure about that? I tend to find some men's clothes more comfortable and more practical as they tend to be loose and have lots of storage pockets. Women's clothes are usually designed to be skin tight and I hate tight clothing.
The long skirt is one area where I would agree with you, much more comfortable but if you want to do any work in the garden it gets in the way, gets caught on fences and has no pockets. It is impractical to carry a handbag in the garden after all.

I have seen some actually do this for a living. Where they go all out and dress from head to toe as a women. They enjoy doing this and makes them money by doing so. Although I love heels and fishnet stockings, I can't say I have warned the stockings often.
I think that those that only do so for parties is simply out of fun and or maybe the party is the only place they feel it is accepted, maybe...

In some cultures women are not allowedto wear pants. By their standards, Nirth American women dress like men.
What about unisex jeans and a rockstar t-shirt, or women who wear men's jeans because they're more comfy? Are women dressed like men, or are men dressed like women?
Scotsmen in kilts? Saudis dressed in robes? Indian women in a shalwar kameez, which includes a looping shirt and visible pants? They have those for men too.
Does tendered clothing really exist?

None of the above...everyone can do what they want...I am just old fashioned being raised in a farming community I didn't see alot of what goes on in the cities...so it would be more embarassing to me then anything....I do know one cross dresser now and that certainly doesn't bother me about him, he's still a friend....but I wouldn't date him either if he asked.

Yes I agree that it is our perception and we should not impose it on somebody else but people who think that certain behaviours are wrong for whatever reason seem to feel compelled to shout their crime out to the world.
It certainly would have been interesting, you do not get many men in tights theses days. I can imagine you all talking in private. That is not just England though it is our culture. Most nice people are taught that it is rude to talk about someone while they are present and can hear you. The younger generation no longer seem to go along with this these days but I was certainly taught it.

Perhaps. I think that women's clothes hit a number of buttons in the male mind. If I am troubled seeing a male dressed as a female then that is my problem. Yesterday in the supermarket there was a couple wearing fancy dress. She was dressed as Little Bo Peep and he as Robin Hood. They were queuing at the checkout quite normally. Being England nobody said anything but you can bet everyone saw and commented to each other.

pikefish hi I have often wondered that too.I was in junior college in my thirties and saw this man in elegant suit , hair long and nicely braided on his uh her" head and elegant silk stockings and spike heels. great legs but I could tell that she was not a she but he, a prominent he Judge Andrews of circut court. oh my g. He was to be the speaker at our class on human sexuality. So he and I shared speparate stalls in the women's rest room and I wondered how he could stand to be in women's clothes. He really did look great though. I think its the feel of softer gentler fabrics we wear for one thing. Also I have had the feeling that men who cross dress may be low on testosterone. I don't know if that's valid or not but that is my idea.

Maybe because they just want to "feel pretty" for a change, and a party is always a good excuse for people to get dressed up and to feel pretty.

so sweetie, no thong pics then?
