I think I've cleaned but I've barely started!

So, my friends know about the shed project (still working on the door, but things have been preventing my getting out there.) They also heard about the excavation of the front room (still in the works.) But this Sunday, the roomie decided we needed to clean out some of the space in the kitchen. Now, part of this is self defense since the other roommate got in there and took stuff for her daughter. Well, fine, but its OUR stuff not hers to take!!! So, we cleaned out under several cabinets and in a couple over the counters too. We emptied a whole lot of plastics out and found several stashes of more and started putting lids and bottoms together. Now, one of the places we got into hasn't really been accessed for a while... like a few years! But, we are going to need this space if the "cat room" becomes a bedroom. We'll need a place to put paper towels, toilet paper and other cleaning supplies, and this is the logical place. We ended up with 3 boxes of stuff, none of this "junk," just stuff we don't need. However, the roomie's nephew and niece need things so we gave them a call and then started going through the cookbooks. We kept a little over a third, the niece (in-law?) took about half, we set aside a few for our guy friend "J" and took the rest, and what she didn't want of the 3 boxes (she took 2 of them) to Goodwill. Now, I'm washing this stuff. But you know plastics, they have to go on the top rack, so things like coffee mugs and stuff are going on the bottom. Also, the roomie is supposed to put the clean dishes away, but after telling her I needed it unloaded last night, and this morning, and it still wasn't done after I got off work, I did it myself. Then I loaded it again and this is, like... load #4... There is still more to be done, but... until we get into another site of plastics, this will probably be the last one for a little bit that is mostly the plastics. We are not keeping butter bowls and the like, but - fear not - they are not going to the dump, we recycle in Austin! After the niece and nephew left we found some other stuff for them, but we are putting that stuff aside, since we are going out to the roomie's folks this weekend. This place we are going to store cleaning stuff in has pretty deep shelves, so we are going to get trays we can pull out to access stuff in the back - we talked about it before, but now we are going to do it. We do need to get out and work in the sheds, but its either been raining (like the weekend we did the front room project) hot again (I don't do heat well) or we've had too many other things on our plates to do it. So, after the rain today, it should dry off, but I doubt we'll get out there this weekend either... and then we have back to back birthdays; Thanksgiving and then Christmas... I think we are doing good just to tread water here... So - have you seen Puss yet?

hi elicbxn wow you guys are really getting into it and have done a lot of work too.I hate that when someone helps themselves to things that do not belong to them but to me, thats not fair at all.I dread to think of what all we have in storage awaiting the time if it ever comes when we have enough money for first and last month and security deposit.we goofed when being forced out and did not get a large enough moving truck or rent a large enough storage space. so we lost a lot but that all water under the bridge now. Nope I have not seen Puss yet. lol

I know, I'm worn out from doing all this (and Maggie keeps telling me to take it easy - but its got to be done!) Puss is very cute, the roomie and I were discussing it, we think its kind of a "prequel" to the Shrek movies...

Since we have barely 3 feet in our "hallway" that isn't a door of some sort (and that's the wall of the bathroom) its hard to pile up the hallway!

Whew! I get weary just reading your posts! What a boatload of toil!!! And now, you have a freezing cold front coming in! Any excuse for a break, dear. Pull out the cocoa mugs & start swigging the good stuff! Raise one for me, woncha? Maggiepie "Words are loaded pistols." ~ Jean-Paul Sartre, writer & philosopher 1905-1980

It seems like there are cosmic forces at work around where I live to prevent me from getting everything done. I swear, for every project I get done, when things get cleaned up, there seem to be about three more things that seem to pop up. And that is not counting the outside. The outside is an entirely different level of fun and games. It is just really going to be be a never ending battle. A battle that I think that I'm fighting hard. And oddly enough, a battle that I think that I am losing as well. It just goes to show you that no matter how hard you go at it, there are always going to be forces that are not going to be on your side. There is always going to be even more to do. Hey, I worked for hours, but I scratched the surface. This is why there needs to be about twelve more hours in the day and about three more days in the week. Just to tip the scales slightly more in my favor. But I really digress. I really do.

If I were 20 years younger and 100 lbs lighter I might have more energy to do this stuff - as it is, I'm not...

Oh, it sounds like my house. There is always a corner or a cupboard to organize. I feel so good with each one I tackle. I never have to be bored, there is always something to do. I can be tired, though. It seems if I miss one day of dishes, doing just one load, I end up with four extra loads. Honestly though, this week it is catch up from working all weekend and all the personal kitchen stuff we took to do product demos with. Big bowls that really fill up the sink or dishwasher fast. I also keep cleaning out containers from the refrigerator and that fills the dishwasher fast. Oh, and today was "make catfood" day, after I had already been job hunting and shopping all day. I wish our community took #5 plastics like butter tubs and yogurt cups, but here it still goes in the trash.

oh, ours takes them... but I've had a few times where the recycle bin isn't big enough! - this week might be one of those!

Busy, busy, busy... I can't get motivated to do anything around here, and there's no shortage of stuff to do.

I wish I was motivated to do more around my apartment! My attic has been insulted and I have moved some stuff back up to the attic form the basement. Been doing a littel every weekend when I go down and do laundry. When I first moved stuff I had gone through some stuff and got rid of some of it. I didn't go through everything and now I've noticed there is some other stuff to get rid of! I don't decorated for Christmas and I really should donate or sell my chistmas stuff! Found some basketball cards I bought like in the early 1990's I had forgottan about! About 2 shoeboxes worth! Those I want to sell, also! Last summer I sold some collector plates and thought I had sold must of them. Wrong! I missed a box and will try to sell next summer at my friends landlord's monthly rummage sale! I don't have projects like you but I mine is bad enough! LOL!

Its tough isn't it? Check on line and see if any of those cards are valuable... not that I know much about basketball cards... Yeah, things can be pretty overwhelming, especially if they involve stairs!
