I heard there is a woman in a conversation, her identity was stolen, and she wasn't living here in Atlanta. She only coming in visit her parents, and her living place was in Texas Houston. A week before, the police department called her in long distance there is a possibility her identity was compromised, because there were several shopping used under her name. The driver's license number and the social security number was hers, but the picture id was another woman. This woman immediately check her credit, and there were several credit card applications open. Now, she was able to closed them and file a credit alert. Maybe that is not enough to protect her, she should freeze her credit and no one would ever apply another credit card under her name. What a scary story to hear! Further, she should tell it to the IRS since it is closed to tax return, and IRS might be able to give her a pin number when she file a tax return, since her social security number is compromised, that lady might used it to collect her tax return.

This is one of the scarliest thing I have ever heard for a long time. I cannot imagine the pain that she went through. I really don't know what I can do if it happens to me. It is good that the police were able to identify the problem earlier.
