Hello Friends, we are all here to earn some (in fact, a lot of) bucks. Like they say, let your money work for you. Don't let it lie idle, in the same way, it goes for articles. I have 80 summaries written on Shvoong. I heard that ExpertsColumn allows content even if it is duplicate as long as you are the author. Am I right? I am hearing various versions from various people. Some people advice you to have the same username from where you are taking the content. Please put in your views. I have 80 summaries on Shvoong as I said above. It would really help me earn a few extra bucks.

I just went and read the TOS on EC - the bit you need is the license you grant them by uploading your content: "non-exclusive, royalty free, sub-licensable, perpetual, world-wide licence to use, modify, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such Content on and through the Website and the Website Service and in any other form or medium. You continue to own the Content after it is posted to the Website." "non-exclusive" means you can repost anything from anywhere else (provided you own the content or a license to post it). So, in short, yes you can put your Shvoong stuff on there under their normal terms.

Oops, one more thing. You can do it providing it doesn't breach your contract with Shvoong. If they have exclusive rights, then you can't repost, of course.

Hello Spike, there is another authoritative answer from your side and it looks good to get such guidance from you. However, I have one more query and I would appreciate if you try to interpret it for me. I went through the terms of Shvoong only to find that I found nothing. I mean, the technical language used here http://www.shvoong.com/terms/ was too hard to grasp. I did not understand what that creative commons is. Will you please take some more efforts and pass on, if Shvoong allows the content to go to EC or not.

Creative Commons licenses are a wonderful invention that allow people to use your content within certain limits. For example, a songwriter can give their lyrics a CC license which allows other musical types to set the words to another tune or use them in an animation without paying royalties. I use these on my ebooks - I allow people to freely copy and distribute the information provided they don't change it and keep the original author and license type. In other words, free distribution in its original form. CC licenses are detailed here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/ (scroll down a bit for the list of different types and what they are). Shvoong's licensing looks VERY simple. The important sentences are these: "You shall retain ownership of any rights in the Content, but by providing Content to the Site you are granting a license to Shvoong to post the Content in whole or in part on the Site and to allow users of the Site to use the Content, subject to all applicable laws. For the avoidance of doubt, the said license is a free-of-charge license (other then the Commission as specified in Section 6 herein), for an unrestricted period of time, to publish, present, duplicate, copy, distribute, market and to do with the Content any other use at Shvoong's sole and absolute discretion." "You retain ownership af any rights in the Content" means you ONLY give Shvoong the free-of-charge (i.e. no royalties) license to publish your content. There's absolutely no mention of exclusivity, so no problem republishing. You're effectively giving them non-exclusive publication rights, as I see it - the fact that they say "you retain ownership of any rights" means that, unless they specifically state otherwise, they leave you ALL rights. Looks safe to me.

Hi Abhi, if Shoovng allows you to post the articles elsewhere, you can join Expertscolumn and repost them. You have to use the same user id, so that they know that you are the original writers. If your reviews are shorter than 300 words, you need to lengthen it. I think 80 summaries will earn you more than five dollars within a short time.

Hi, Have you any idea if Shvoong allows me to use my content on EC? I went through the terms, the link of which I posted in the above response to Spike. I couldn't fathom the rules. Please help me.
