Hiya myLotters and friends!
Lots of criminal act had been recorded with the help of CCTV cameras. And even it doesn't help to totally prevent the crime, at least the authorities have clues to run after the criminals or the people who victimized will take more precautions so they will not get victimized once more.
Last night, it was a different story for me and my wife. We were together in a mall looking for materials for her cross-stitch project. Successfully, we got the items. She paid it and then we left the place.
When we were in the market buying for our dinner, she noticed that she lacks about Three Hundred Pesos in her purse. She told me that we need to go back to the mall. And after more than Thirty minutes, we were back at the counter were she paid for the items she bought there.
To make the long story short, the cashier called the security personnel who monitors the cameras, and reviewed the video. And then she was told that the cashier actually did not give her her change. That she suddenly closed her register after receiving the money from my wife.
So my wife got her change and thanked the cameras inside.
Do you have a similar story like this with CCTV cameras?
Don't you think it's really helpful to have the system not only in the business establishments but also in our home?

A ;ot of the big stores around here have those cameras but some of the smaller stores just have dummy cameras. They look like the real thing but really don't take any pictures. And most of the criminals know where the cameras blind spots are so they can avoid doing anything that would get captured by the camera.

i am happy to have read this story. i see the importance of those CCTVs all around. some people are annoyed as if they were being watched. some people are saved by those "eyes." your story is a proof how CCTV could help us sort out the truth. with the cameras on, it is easier to verify reports and complaints about what truly happened.

hi neildc Yes I have read how those cameras have caught people in the midst of criminal acts.We here at Gold Crest have them in our halls and dining room too. the eve after Valentine's day I was happily rushing towards the rear elevator when I fell. And I fell face down
very hard. In ten seconds there where four different people all trying
to help me as they had seen the fall on one of the cameras. So I felt
very happy to know that if anything unpleasant happens to one of us we get help immediately.Trader Joes even have them intheir stores. One time I gave a clerk a fifty dollar bill and he made change for a twenty. I did not know it til I got back to our apt. I went back as they had shortchanged me and the clerk who waited on me checked the camers .It showed I had handed him a fifty dollar bill . so it took him just a minute to correct his error. And he was most applogetic
about it too. so I am sold on those CCGTV cameras.

hi fellow mylotters and I was wondering how long they intend to keep a clerk who is obviously dishonest?

I'm glad that establishment has CCTV camera. Otherwise, she either gets it back no more or she would be asked to wait till the Cashier has finished her duty so that she could balance her money to see if there really is P300 excess money from her sales. CCTV camera is really useful in establishments like this. Sometimes because we are in a hurry and we think of so many thinks we tend to overlook things. I believe the Cashier did not do that intentionally. Maybe she was conversing with someone while doing her job or maybe she was distracted by something else while your wife also might be distracting by something else just the same.
CCTV camera is indeed a useful gadget in most cases. I am just quite sad that this does not seem to serve the purpose of tracking down criminals when the crime happens on the road. I've seen so many cases or recorded crimes in CCTV camera but the problem is the criminals were able to get away without being apprehended.Even the previous holdup robbery in one jewelery shop. The event was recorded in full but the problem is the robbers were wearing masks. I think aside from CCTV camera the police should really be more vigilant and alert.
