Ever find yourself on a train of thought and wonder how you got there? Last night,I'd picked up a newspaper to read, and before reading had left it with the sports page on the back folded over, with the headline uppermost..I wouldn't be a reader of the sports pages,so I'd be thinking I wouldn't have been paying attention to it..And somehow my thoughts were back with watching some of Sean Connery in Bond Movie "Diamonds are Forever" that was on TV last week,in the scene Where he's impersonating a Diamond smuggler in Amsterdam to get higher up the supply chain..a Man named "Franks"...and then I looked back at the paper, with it's headline of "Franks a Lot" about Player Frank Lampard scoring a winning Goal! Got any examples of your mind messing with Your thinking?!

LOL! That happens to me quite often, especially when I am talking with some of my friends. We will start talking about one thing, which will lead to another thing, etc., and eventually the conversation will not sound remotely like what we had originally started talking about. Usually, although I am not quite sure how it happens, we manage to go "full circle" and get back to the original topic of conversation at some point.

That sort of thinking is one thing I liked about Billy Connolly's Standup routines..He can start on one subject,go rambling off on a tangent about something related, and then somehow manage to get it back to where he started!

I have never heard of Billy Connolly, but he sounds like the kind of comic that I would like. Another comic that I do watch, Paula Poundstone, does the same thing. She will start talking about one thing, in the middle go off on a tangent about something else, and somehow bring it all back to relate to what she had originally started off talking about. Of course, that does not happen all the time, but it does happen a lot more often than you would expect, especially considering how "off-topic" some of her tangents seem to get.

If You like Stand Up,(And don't mind cussin'!) I'd recommend you check him out..A Warning,He's from Glasgow, and Still has a Strong Accent! One of his first visits to the US was as a Guest of Whoopi Goldberg in New York, the recording of that show is one of my favourites...He's moved to LA,and has also a career as a Straight Actor..He was in "Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise, and was a former Priest in the second "X-Files" Movie.. I've Heard of Paula Poundstone, but haven't seen much of Her..Must check her out!

I think that's just the way my brain works. A typical conversation between me and my wife might go like this: "Last Friday Robert and I went-" (bright shiny thought ... it's so pretty ... no ... must ... get back on track ...) "Shiny what?," asks my wife. "... I'm sorry. Did I say that out loud?" ... "to the store? Is that where we went?" All kidding aside. Yes it happens all the time. If I work really hard I can stay on track, but I'm just not wired that way apparently. I'm going to call that part of my charm, since she married me anyway. In a few more years people will overlook it as an eccentricity, but until then I'll just be labeled scatter-brained I guess.

Good,so it's not just Me that gets sidetracked! It's just not that often that I get to see or realise what it was that sets Me off...
