My brother was working before in one of the well-known call centers. But he was employed under an agency so he’s getting a lower salary compared to those that were hired directly. He’s undergraduate and find it difficult to just apply for a better job. So he stayed there for years…
He tried submitting his resume in one company that was referred by his friend. He was called and passed everything. He was hired in the beginning of the month last year. Not only that the company gives a high-paying job (higher than what he’s expecting) He was getting good perks as well. His previous 3-4 years experience in his old company is nothing compared to this new one. He never get anything there, no pay raise just the monthly pay check.
He’s gonna be one year from his new company this January. He was promoted on his 9th month. Got several gift cheques as a reward for being a hard working staff, which we use to buy some groceries for Christmas and New Year.
And during their Christmas party he got some more GC’s for more awards and a bank cheque. He got a total of 6,500 pesos from his awards on their party! He was awarded the Employee of the Year too!
Sometimes it really pays to wait for a good job rather than jumping off one job to another. Oh well I am guilty of that. I just hope he could find time to finish some of the loads in college so he could get a diploma. That will help him more in the future. We thank God for the blessings he's getting!
Hope you all have a rewarding career too!

That's what agencies do.
Anyway, call centers now has their own recruitment agencies.
But still, better to check those trusted ones.
I've been to that same industry- but I resigned recently due to stress.
Okay, they paid high, a decent salary for being stressed everynight...
GC'S , power hour promo, team power, agent of the month, agent of the year- of so much offers-
Not to mention the 300thousand Medical financial assistance.
300-500thousand Life insurance...
Here's the joke;
Don't worry about the stress- you can die and leaving your family half a million richer

Yeap that's the downside of working in call centers. One of the reason I really don't want to apply or work in one. Plus, I am not familiar in Manila
I'm a typical probinsyana
I do hope he won't have those stress. The only thing is that he works even when he's here at home. Because some aren't doing their part on the job.1 person likes this

Well, good for your brother dear, he is single.
But for a mother like me, having a night shift is not easy.
My shift never changed since I am working with US account.
I worked from 12 midnight till 9am and got home by 10 or 11am depending if using a car (so I can get home early)
Then, I still need to check my kids needs.
I don't have a housemaid (I don't like to have one- saka sayang ang pasahod)
I am meticulous with everything - no chance to trust my personal things and my own house (hehehee)
Imagine the stress- Usually I went to bed at 1 0r 2pm and woke up 8or 9pm (so, having 6-8hours sleep) that's fine.
But you know the big difference of our body clock (not the usual night time sleeping)
Then,I still need to check on my kids needs again before going to work.
Ugh!...but that was exciting and very challenging.
Gosh,I got tons of blogs all about call center -hehehe.

Yup your hard earned money is not so easy to just give to the maids. And nowadays it's so hard to trust someone to be in and out of the house everyday. Omg, what you experienced before is so tiring. I could not imagine myself in that position. I'll really get sick getting less sleep everyday and one of the things I don't like is working on a night shift.
My brother's work sked keeps changing every month. Sometimes he would work in the evening, sometimes his shift is in the morning. I don't know how he gets use to that.

I have a rewarding career being a fulltime mom for 3 years now *LOL! It's really rewarding for me to see my kids growing each day to be good as what we taught them to be (wow!). They are respectful to the olds and to those also their age. Though they are like just an ordinary kids with tantrums,.. I'm in control. I see to it that they will have values to value!
My husband has a rewarding career as an engineer... and proudly to say that I'm supportive to him with regards to his job. Aside from beneficial trainings and seminars his company is proving, he was able to travel in Singapore for a week training,.. also in US, Arizona for a conference and previously in Thailand to do some benchmarking. It's really rewarding to have all those travels expense paid by his employer! It boost his confidence!
What a rewarding carrer growth it is!

Hi Lhenni,
Wow I love your husband's job. The kind of job that I dreamed of too is travelling to other countries for business purpose of course that comes with the pleasure too. Like our lotter Pushhyarag too. That is one dream I want for my brother too. A friend of mine is a programmer in a software solutions company, and he's really hoping to be sent to other countries too. I do hope he also gets to achieve what your husband achieved. And by the way, being a mom is truly a rewarding job. I haven't applied for that position yet

I've always thought that diplomas are only good for getting you to the door of companies. Once in, it's the hardwork that you put that makes the kind of career that we make.
Although your brother has had a difficult time getting through the door, I think it's great that the time he put in is being rewarded now.
I wouldn't say I have a rewarding career, because there are still I want to accomplish. But I'm in a good place, I think.

Yes I also thought diplomas are the only way to get a rewarding job. But, nah! I have a diploma but he's having a better career than me.

Hi enelym: I can tell you that I feel happy with the career I chose because it has helped me to grow up intellectually. I'm a lawyer and here in my country there's a lit of competition for my career on the job recruitment. Even with that, I consider that it's all about how do you feel and how much you work that you find the opportunities. Good luck to your brother.

That's a good job, not easy to be a lawyer but it's always rewarding when you won a case coz that's mean you have helped someone.

Hi enelym
Reward
ing career
I never got any chocolates or candies from my bosses but the students did always offer me my share. I feel that is more rewarding to me than any from the bosses.
I was into teaching as a profession until 2006 when I took to software development, and later the website development thing. I really enjoyed teaching as it is my passion.
Today, I am comfortable with internet and my work but I always miss that going out to take classes. Some of the students to keep coming in and I am happy that the passion is still alive.

Hi sids
That is also rewarding... having to receive those chocolates and candies from your student. I hope you're not threatening them to give you chocos
Teaching is a nice profession, you feel as though you never get old because you mingle with students. I wish I have that passion in teaching but I don't have. This is the reason I didn't apply for work in the school I studied college. If I get a position in the office they would normally give a few subjects to teach.

Of course I did threaten otherwise how would they know
Oh... are you now not chasing the position just because you would have to teach
In that case, opt for the Position and delegate the teaching to someone junior (or you can also hire an experienced trainer...

Hi befriend
I am also happy for him. We never thought he will get a good job. 'Though the company only accepts one who is a graduate, but because of his previous experience which is somewhat related to what the company needs, he was hired. God is really great giving him all those blessings

Though at times i get stressed here at my current job.. i still love it nonetheless.. in terms of financial aspect, my pay is quite good, plus the incentives. They give me rice allowance - a sack of rice a month, plus health allowance a month for 2k..and communication allowance too.. aside from the bonuses we get depending on the company's performance. But for this year has been fruitful..the bonus is a bit higher than we expected.

Hi jazel,
You've got a good and rewarding job too
sometimes we just need to think that stress will be there wherever company we go
monthly sack of rice is a really good help as we know that rice keeps getting costly. More to come for you!

Hi cutie,
Thanks, I also thinks he deserve such rewards and recognition. I have heard him sometimes being asked to work even if it's his day off because some people who should be on the shift is absent and can;t be contacted without even informing their supervisors.

Hi enelym: So glad to hear after a long wait, your brother has now found an employer that recognizes real contribution by employees. Good for him. He could certainly benefit even more if he manages to get his diploma. I wish him [and hence by natural effect to you & your family
] all the best.
Oh yes, I have been lucky to have somehow been blessed with the most rewarding jobs especially in the last decade or so. One company sent me twice to US & Mexico on business/pleasure apart from loads of liberal perks, the present Company also sent me to Malaysia one year & Singapore the next year, apart from good annual bonuses etc.
So far so good for me!

Hi Pushhyarag,
Yeah we are so glad for him too. We saw how he worked hard in his previous company but no recognition or anything. That's probably because their not directly hired by the company. And I do believe too that he can later find a more rewarding job or company if he gets a diploma... or maybe promoted in his company in a much higher position... lol, not expecting more, just happy for him.
Wow, yours is really much more rewarding. I would love to travel too. That's one of the dream perks I wish for a company. My boyfriend have the chance to travel before too when he was working in one company. But he's no longer there. I can really see how rewarding your job is. More travels for you!

Hope for the continuing blessing in your life,

Hi dm,
Thanks. I also think he deserves it coz he even works overtime when he's at home when it's really needed. Just not to pile up all the email and chat queries from their clients.
