What a hectic week I had. The children were all "wound up" because there was a Christmas production of singing on stage (early, we have 4 more days of school this week). I had a variety of grades since there were also meetings planned for the week and one teacher became ill, too.
So how was work this past week for you? Have you been to any Christmas plays, pageants, sing-a-longs or are you going to any? Even if you didn't have paid work, you probably had lots to do this week. So how was your week?

I am a teacher and it has been crazy. We have three days of school this coming week to contend with. I am ready to throw in the towel...and a movie for the last couple of days. We have had some bad weather so we have been inside for recess. My kiddos are sick of each other and getting on eachother's nerves.

Movies make things worse in my opinion. Kids aren't like we were when we were young. We sat mezmerized. Now they roll on the floor, sneak around, etc.
The best are hands-on projects. Our school takes the last day or two and has the kids do centers. One center they might make a gingerbread man out of brown paper and other things they cut out. The next one might be a gingerbread house. Cut, glue, stick or color and then do all that. Another one might be make snowmen. They call in parents to help, get teacher's aides to help, put one adult per groupd and "go for it." Then a break to read a Christmas story to them or have a little "follow the leader" Christmas Dance. The older grades have Wii.
Justifications for the younger kids would be following directions and eye-to-hand coordination improvemen.
The older ones, we're "fighting obesity" by having them do something besides sit all day. The 4th and 5th graders seem to love this dance video thing. Plus making Christmas presents for friends and family. We're lucky, our school does not have much for parents who are against Christmas.

We have to finish our Polar express unit before we go to the local theater to watch it on Wednesday. I do have a short video on the Mars rover that I have planned for Monday afternoon, but it is only 20 minutes, and it is after the kids present their state projects. We also have to finish painting our dough ornaments as gifts for loved ones.
As a way to keep my sanity, I did move seats yesterday after school. I hope that they can handle who they are sitting by for 2 days before break.
My reading intervention group is going to be doing a following directions activity that when they are done makes a rudolph like reindeer with the big red nose. And we are doing a folding paper activity to make a small gift box.
I really will not throw in the towel, but it seems like a pretty good idea to me.

My week was normal. Writing articles, working on here, taking my grandson to his appointments and watching movies. I have not had any pageants or Christmas plays to see. We go to look at christmas lights on the way home from appointments and such. Lovely this year. I was afraid there wouldn't be any because of the economy.

We have competitions here. The winners get money, so that helps with their electric. There are a few that get solar during the day and the battery/lights come on at night.
