I saw a recipe for this and wondered if anyone has ever tried this? If so what do you put it on aside from breads? I don't see it as having as many foods to pair it up with as regular tomatoes and tomato sauce. Adding cinnamon and cloves to the concoction doesn't seem very appealing to me as I'm not a fan of cloves and I don't think cinnamon is anything I'd pair up with tomatoes.

Well, like you, the only thing that I think that you would be able to pair something like this with would be breads of different kinds. With that said, before I will try any kind of a recipe, it has got to be something that I really think that everyone in our family is going to enjoy and for that reason alone, I wouldn't make this for my family, despite the fact that our family all loves to eat tomatoes.
If you decide to try it, however, let us know how it turns out.

Never know till you try. Maybe once you taste it you'll think of stuff to have it on.

I have eaten tomato jam since I was little and I make it every time I have tomatoes from my own garden as I like to do it with plant rippened tomatoes. The was I do it, it is just tomatoes and sugar, just as I make my apricot jam. I peel the tomatoes and cut them up and let them juice. Then I put sugar and let them simmer in very low heat. I don´´t use either cinnamon or cloves even though I like both spices. I usually eat it either with french bread or on top of a cornflour and milk dessert.
