Today I started my volunteer work as a language teacher for a family from Burma. I have borrowed a language book for beginners. The books contains a number of short stories about a family and their daily life. We practice prounciation as well as grammar. Some of the Danish words are very difficult for them to pronounce, because those sounds don't exist in their own language, so we will keep on practicing Are you involved in volunteer work or have you done volunteer work in the past? Which kind of volunteer work did you do? If you haven't tried it, which kind of volunteer work would you be interested in?

Hi Porcospino teaching computers is something that comes naturally to me. I have been doing that since the past 16-17 years now. I tried earlier and even a few days back too but they didnt seem to appreciate the proposal - I want to volunteer to train the differently abled people, computers - We have a school in town for the deaf and blind. I had approached them to train them on at least some basics of computers. The authorities however, felt that computers is not great for them and it will lead to nothing good for them. I however differ and always feel that computers can be great for all. The last time, the authorities say that the Government (who runs this institution here) they are not willing to invest even in a single computer for these. Unfortunate, but I am still in touch with the authorities and hope some good happens. I have also found out a place about 600 kilometers away where they have printers that can print in braille - this will help the students and also the authorities to publish all books needed for educating the students in braille which should be a welcome thought but... I still hope for the best as the few interactions with the students there tell me that they are interested. I think, the authorities see this as a business opportunity for me which is not the thing that I am into but they will never understand.

I think that it is a very good initiative , and it is sad to hear that the authories don't support the idea. I hope that they will change their opinion about this topic. I agree with you, I think that computers can be useful for everyone including people with disabilities. I have worked in a home for people were deaf and blind, they didn't have access to computers, but I think that computers would have been useful for many of them.
