I want to know how to sort date in year then month and then date if they are put in excell sheet. I want the dates to be sorted in one way either ascending or descending order.

If your dates are in one column in date format, then Excel will sort in the order you want. If you have entered the dates in three columns (Year, Month, Day), then the best thing to do is to use the =DATE(Year,Month,Day) formula in a fourth column to get them into date format and use that to sort the data.

Dates are a complete cow in Excel, because it treats them like numbers. If you want them sorted in "date order" (either earliest to latest or the opposite), it's easy - just make sure they're entered in date format and sort them.
If you want anything more complicated, it's a total nightmare, especially if you're doing calculations.
