Spending my childhood in Holland I have vague memories of Tintin, the new Steven Spielberg movie, as a comic book. Was it a comic book? Anyway, in my teen years I loved The Archies and who can forget Batman, Superman et al. Do you have a favorite or maybe you love reading comic strips. Those were pretty cool too.

Hi gtargirl (Nice name). I am a real time comic book fan and have read a lot of them when I was in the hospital for 3-4 months straight.
I have read and loved Archies, Beetle and Bailey, Superman, Batman, Fantastic Four, Justice League, Dennis the Menace, some or all of Hanna Barbera cartoon comics like Flintstones, Jetsons, you name it.
Also, not to forget Indian classics like Chacha Choudhary and Shaktiman I love it till date.
If I have to tell you one comic strip that I still read and love reading, it has to be Garfield. It is one of my all time favorites, and I think he resembles me in his laziness!!!

I hope you recovered well. But I'm glad you had the comics for your hospital stay. That is quite a lengthy stay. Ouch! I forgot about Dennis the Menace and the Flintstones. They rock. And, of course, who can leave out Garfield. Love that lazy cat!

I loved Superman, but I think my favorite comic book when I was a girl was Little Lulu. Thinking back, she was quite a daring girl for those times. And I loves the witch stories she told when she was babysitting. I did not like the way the comics were turned into cartoons. They lost a lot.

I barely remember Lulu, though the name sounds very familiar. You're right too, the cartoons took away from the comic-book charm.

I have lived in Scandinavia as a kid and I loved most Donald Duck magazines even if I read some othe comics too - Superman of course, but he was more for boys..
After I became about 50, I kind of grew out of Donald Duck..
But I have still some comic books left that the kids who visit can read..

Well, it looks like that book was interesting for him..
Who could give up D Duck? Not me!
He was the one who taught me Swedish when I was new here and only could speak Finnish!
I have no grandkids but some parents with kids like to visit me and then I have something to entertain them with while I´m talking with the parents..
A good thing is that children love to read or hear the same story over and over again!

I loved all the superhero comics, especially Superman, Green Lantern, Flash and Spider-man. I also liked Archie, Jughead, Veronica and Betty.

Archie was my favorite too.
Unfortunately, I left him (my comic book collection) in Holland when we moved. Sigh!

I remember Archies and even until now when i have spare money I find a second hand book store and look for Archie comics there. I still love this comic book. Everytime I touch this, it brings back the memories of childhood. It is not just a comic book, but it has something in it that makes me smile every time I am holding it. I might sound sentimental but I believe everyone of you has left a piece of your childhood in everythings that you have now, either old or new. Comics like Archies will never grow old. My comic book was all drown in flood that is why I am doing my best to have a lot of copy at the moment. I bring one comic book inside my bag and whenever I past time waiting for someone is a specific place or in a mall, I read Archies there. Sometimes I already memorized the story but I still find myself laughing at it. It really brings back the memories and worth reading. Archies is part of everyone's childhood.

And there's something about the artwork too, that brings back memories. Without having one in hand I can still see the colors and pictures. It is a part of my childhood.

I liked Archie. He was, among, my favorites when I needed a laugh. I, especially, liked Jughead, Jughead had a large appetite but he was cool. I, also, liked reading DC and Marvel comics.

It's awesome though that you kept them for the grandkids. It's a great way to get them to read. I couldn't get my son to read until his school counselor gave him the book "Captain Underpants."
