How to create my own Blog Header?

Hi gang,
can anyone help me to learn how to create my own blog header? in specific, what is common size for blog header?
how can i create a blinking/ glittering or any creative art design for my blog header?

A reasonable size for a blog header would be 600 x 200 or 600 x 100 (depending on how much information you want in it). A blinking/glittering effect would be done in Flash. To do it yourself, you would need to have Adobe Flash software (which costs money, of course) but I believe that there are websites which can make simple Flash banners for you online.
