According to almost all pundits and anyone who watched Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina debate hands down. He is the only candidate since Reagan to get a standing O in a debate forum and took apart the competion by answering every question directly while his main opponent, Mitt Romney avoided most question asked him. How is it that Newt gets no mentionable bump in the polls?

Newt is a excellent debater. The problem is most people know his past and all the things he has done. He is actually a lot like Romney on the issues 1 minute is actually all for Republican ideas the next he sounds like a Democrat. So I give Newt the all time full of crap award. The thing is he is a lot smoother at it than Romney.

The biggest problem I see is that Mitt Romney can't beat Barack Obama. Newt has had a few bumps in his personal life but his experience and accomplishments as speaker of the house so far out shine anything Romney has ever done is is pitiful.

For one thing, most voters don't trust him a bit....with good reason considering his history, both political and personal. Someone without morals will most likely say anything in order to get what he or she wants - in this case the GOP nomination, and eventually elected President. But likely there is more too it than that. If you actually read the news and facts available you will see that most people are questioning his tax plan. It would increase the debt rather than helping to shrink it....inevitably hurting our already failing economy. Plus like most politicians he changes his stance on the issues to suit the voters he is talking to. That again takes away trust.
While I agree that he is a VERY good debater, and the jury is still out as to whether or not he could beat Obama in November, that is really all he has going for him right now....along with a lot of press coverage which gets his name out to the voters. That does not make Presidential material - in my book at least.
