I get a weekly ad/newsletter from 1-2-3 Stitch and this week, I found something very interesting in it. DMC is now selling its six-strand floss in CONES! Approximately 450 yards per cone, and only $19.99 per. If my calculations are correct, that's about 4.5 cents a yard or about 40 cents a skein. Now, I'm not sure I'd ever need 450 yards of one color floss, let alone use it all up in my lifetime, but it would certainly solve the problem of slight color differences in dye lots, wouldn't it? http://www.123stitch.com/DMC_Six_Strand_Floss_Cones.html

wow! that's pretty cool anyway - and there are some colors you use a lot of, tho I agree, at $20 it would have to be one you are going to use a LOT!

Yeah, like if you were into doing a lot of Blackwork or Redwork...

Yea I read on Facebook that some of the girls were talking about a cone by DMC. If it comes out 40 cents a skein in US we are only paying 35 cents a skein. I don't like keeping thread for to long as they say with age it breaks easier. Not sure. But unfortunately what I do would not work for me to have that much of one color. Although if anyone works the red or black work pieces it might be just right for them as these pieces that is the only color you use.

Or if you were in the habit of offering your own designs as kits.
