I just got a text message today from a friend who has high level precancerous cervical polyps. She needs to have a leep procedure done. They dont know what causes polyps to happen but from what I read online they are common for women over 20 who have had children. What is rare though is for them to be precancerous or cancerous it said. She had an iud for 7 years and I'm wondering if that what causes the polyps. Has anyone here had to go through the leep procedure. Has anyone ever had a cervial polyp? How did it turn out.. what happened. I think once my friend has the leep procedure done she will be fine.

I only learned that I have cervical polyps just after I miscarried between my daughter and my son. But, they've never caused me any kind of problems. The doctor didn't even suggest checking them to see if they were going to cause me any kind of problems. With that said, I guess that she probably had an abnormal pap smear and that is how they might have come to the conclusion of the polyps after the pap smear.

Yes that is what happened she had an abnormal pap. I did read though that polyps wether they are cancerous or not when they are on the cervix they should be removed. Did you have yours removed or feel that it isnt a problem so you will just leave them. The articles I read said that polyps are comment for women who have had children and are over 20 but its rare that they are cancerous.
