Comedy Shows

Is there anything that bothers you about watching some comedy skits (shows) on TV? I used to like them as a kid and all but lately I find the laugh track in the background so annoying. It makes it seem like everything they say is funny when it's not. I mean after every sentence sometimes, uh really? I just get discouraged, I don't need a track to keep me interested in laughing at what I think is funny or not. Some of the lines aren't funny at all but they want to make you think they are. I know that shows have had that feature forever but it's time they let people decide for themself at what's funny or not, and not have to encourage people to laugh. Laughter should be a natural thing, they ruin a potential good show to me that way. Maybe I'm different in my way of thinking but it's beginning to really bug me evenstill.

Yeah, I find laugh tracks annoying as well...or, to be more exact, it's how laugh tracks are used that's the most annoying thing! Personally, I'm only going to laugh out loud a couple of times even when I'm watching a show I find really funny -- if you're going to have a laugh track, you should at least save it for the really funny moments. When every line get the laugh track going, it just makes the whole show seem less funny. I always wonder, "Hey, wait a minute...just what are they laughing at?!" Maybe they're laughing at the audience for watching the show!

Thats all I seem to laugh when I watch them a few times out loud and maybe smile a few other other times or snicker to myself. I love to laugh just as the next person does, just not be dictated to do it.

I love to watch Comedy Show, but they sometimes sucks because I find their acting to be over. What I loved to watch is Romance-Comedy Drama. It made me gone crazy.

There's nothing wrong with comedy shows, I would rather watch a good stand up comedian though. Comedy-romance-drama can be good too, they're usually on for at least an hour, and a movie. I could get into those more too.

They aren't filmed before a live audience anymore. The canned laughter is cause most of the time..they aren't funny! Sitcoms these days are not funny like they used to be back even just in the 80's and prior. Sitcoms are mostly about s(e)x and who's sleeping with whom and stupid stuff that makes no sense..everyone is unemployed yet lives high off the hog and s(e)x and stpuidity are all the show displays. Nothing to laugh at so they need canned laughter.

Ha, same sentiments exactly. They have run out of funny things to say so now it's all about the three letter word. And the more candid the better. Really, do I need to hear the word 'tampons' 20 times in one show?? I'm not really impressed with that sort of comedy, I'm not a prude either but sometimes they just over do things. Which is why I don't watch most of them anymore. There have been plenty n the past who I've watched but now I couldn't give a flying whoop about them.

hi nailtech I also really hate sound tracks too. some were really pretty funny like the Carol burnett show and others like Cheers] and Eight is enough were funny until they added that stupid]falkse laughter track. I do not need anyone telling me when to laugh. if its funny I will laugh but if its not nobody's sound track can force me to laugh. lol.

Hi Hatley, oh the Carol Burnett show and Cheers, you just mentioned two of my very fave shows of all time. I can't recall if I heard it on Eight is Enough, I thought that was more of a drama type of show. But they probably got carried away after awhile and thought they needed it to be popular in the ratings. Yep, I can't be forced to laugh either (unless they pay me to, LOL).

I do laugh naturally watching sitcoms but I agree, some just arent funny. I don't know if it is the public who does not relate or if the skit is just not funny. I guarantee there are some quality new sitcoms out there, you just have to look for them!

true, now if they actually made them funny there would be no use for fake laughs. oh well, complaining won't help but it sure does make me feel better to vent like this. especially since i have some in my household who seem to think that it makes the show seem funnier, ha.
