How did yo get started on the Internet? Did you take classes for using a computer, just learn about them in school or self taught? I never took any classes, but have been teaching myself most things with the help of some friends (online and others). How many computers do you think you have had since you started being online?

15 years ago one of my teachers asked the students at my school if we wanted to learn something about the internet. He arranged a meeting in the computer room and he told us some of the basic things about the internet. It was a very short introduction, only half an hour, and after the introduction we had the chance to use the internet for half an hour. I was not ready to leave after half an hour
I was a total beginner, but I really enjoyed experimenting with the different kinds of sites, so a few days later I continued on my own. Aside from that short introduction I have learned everything on my own or with help from friends. In the beginning I didn't have my own computer, but a couple of years later I bought my first computer. Since that time I have had four computers: Two desktops and two laptops. Today I use my second laptop.

A half hour is not much to be on the Internet at all, hopefully you had more chances to go on it and explore as often as you wanted. Those are about what I have from being on the Internet but only one lap top which I spent maybe $2,000 on and it stopped working after a few years unfortunately.

I got a very used computer from my brother so that I could write letters on word and communicate with email years ago, 1993 to be exact. I don't know how old this thing was before I got it to use. We actually still have it and it is used for just homework assignments for the kids and no longer has any internet connection.
I got my first computer in 2009 and other than word and email I had to teach myself what I know now about the computer and internet. There is a lot of things I know about but computers is not at the top of those lists. I am learning something new all the time.
Couldn't learn about these in school because back then they just were able to afford electric typewriters in school and I still had a manual one at home to do homework on.
We learn something new everyday!

I still have my first computer too, but never use it. It has some cool programs ( offline ones) on it and hate to ditch it due to that, ha. I might hook it up again one day who knows, but it's very unlikely. We never had computers way back in school either, sad to say but am happy to have them now.

We had some training on the job where they taught us the basics. Whatever else I have learned was through my own efforts. If I don't know how to do something I always ask from the co-employees in the tech department. Some would be more than willing to give advises and would even take time to show the step by step process. At work we always had those educational seminars which included the use of excel and powerpoint in order to make our reports more accurate. I only have a desktop to do my work online. I am planning to buy a laptop as soon as I am able to save enough but I don't think it will be soon.

Good to have some free basic training, very handy! Its great that you still have coleagues too that you can turn to who have the ability to help you out now and then as needed. I have never used the programs Excel and Powerpoint, are they very hard to learn? I have had a lap top and I think they're over rated, I truly don't care for them but thats just my opinion. In fact, even with that said, I still want another one anyways but not for main use.
