I just finished reading a great book called North-West of Sixteen, by J.G. MacGregor. I really enjoyed because it was about my home. I live in Alberta, Canada and this book was about the early settlers to this province and talked a lot about places that I have lived. It's interesting to learn about early life here and how people struggled to clear their land and try to make a living out of it. They enjoyed a simple life like community dances and school plays or just riding in the sleigh with horses in the winter. I sometimes wish I had been born in the early 1900's so I could experience a simple life because modern life is pretty complicated and people don't have the time to just sit and enjoy reading or a cozy fire and conversation anymore. I hope you are enjoying whatever you're reading!

hm, sounds really interesting. let me tell you though i never read this book, howvere whenevr one reads a book somehow related to one's own life, readers enjoy it a lot as i would say they live again with the book. yes, busy schedules of today's life tend us to aviod reading but down the line books are a great friend of all times.they make you feel comfortable and cosy...i had a bay last year so currently all my books are about parenting and babies....happy reading...

Nice share :). Yup those type of books which gives you a historical background and significance of places or things are definitely worth reading. It's great that you found a book that tells a story about the early beginnings of your home town.
I still need to finish reading a lot of books, most of them are required readings for my classes. Some of the books that I read are the Bible, history books, math, physics and engineering.
Happy lotting! :)
