The Red Carpet parties

I was watching one of my favourite shows the other day, "The Marilyn Denis Show" and she has a resident expert on parties on that day, cutie Sebastion anyway, they were talking about the Academy Awards show and how on that night you could invite your friend over for a Academy Awards party. You roll out the red carpet, have champayne and popcorn, different kinds and food and have martinis and so on. You dress up like you're going to the awards , anyway, I was just wondering if people really have parties like this, sounds like fun but also a lot work and preparation involved too.
