I read an article a few years ago about the DMC company remaking the Delorean. Then it seemed to be either a hoax, or I actally think they didn't have enough money. Now I see another article about it, and I'm wowed. I really want one but I'm pretty sure they are more unsafe then they are safe, and well I won't even begin with the price. Here's a link to the article I read : http://www.retrotogo.com/2011/11/electric-delorean-dmcev-back-to-the-future-car-remade-with-an-electric-engine.html and Here's one to a video I'm watching now : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i-XBgwEKZM ****THOSE AIN'T REFERRAL LINKS PEOPLE!***** So whatcha think?

I really hoped it was a standard fitting! With the flying car bit an optional extra.

That would be one expensive optional extra, but ya know I wouldn't mind it. The going up to 88 mph and shooting into the past, I can do without.. or the future.

I think there are alot of things about the Delorean that I like in a car but I just don't like the over all look of it. There may have been some publicity because people want to bring this car back but financing something like this is expensive.

It took high level financing and government assistance to get the original machines up and running, and the finished cars that did get built were regarded as not well built and compromised in design..underpowered engines, heavy bodies.. to say nothing of how the story ended.. I wonder could it be done again? Right, this time.. AND With the extra weight of an electric battery powered transmission in that iconic bodyshell.. let's see how it goes..

Well, I guess we will have to wait and see. It would be interesting to see what they come up with.

I think they are way beyond me. It is fun to look at them, though. Funny how so many things just keep coming back around.

I saw them sell an old one at an auction house on TV once. It brought $17,000.

That is a pretty good price then, as they are usually a lot more then that!

The original Delorean cars were built in Dunmurry outside Belfast here in Northern Ireland-I actually applied for a job in the factory back in the day,and I'm working now along with a guy who tells Me He did work there! So are these new electric machines being built from the original plans and tooling?

I am not sure, the article didn't go into that. I know there are factories here in the US now that make them from old parts that were never used when they stopped production. I watched a video that said they were made over there in Ireland, and I bet it would have been an interesting job to have.

Ha ha, I didn't even know what you were talking about until I saw the picture. LOL! That would be a sweet ride if it were upgraded a bit! I find that doors that go up like that (I forget what they are called) are really SWEET! But you usually don't see them too often, and when you do, they are on a Mercedez or a Mazarati or a Lamborghini or some other ridiculously expensive and lavish sports car. This wouldn't affect me any, because I love my rusty old 1994 Saturn and can't bear to part with it, but it would be pretty cool to see in real life.

I couldn't watch the video for some reason but I got to see it in the article. It is different for sure! Not the average square looking electric cars that I have seen. It also says it goes 100 miles per charge and up to 120mph..wow..that's pretty good for an electric ride too. They are coming a long way with them. Those kind of doors have always amazed me..lol. I am not sure about the safety factor.

I dunno about the idea of having gullwing doors in a car that's maybe gonna be parked between other cars in a car park...

Why are they remaking the Delorean and who would be crazy enough to spend big bucks on buying a car. I think they are unsafe as well. I am sure it really does not fly, but still the car does not look safe. I know it shows a price, but I am not sure of that is in American Dollars. I showed Randy and told him, "guess who is not getting one unless he wants an all expense paid trip to the couch for a year".
