What is shtml??

guy I know xhtml, html, but today I saw a site their link ended shtml what is it. can any one know about it?

It means that the page is set up to include information from the server "on the fly" as the page is delivered to you. Since it is possible to use other extensions besides '.shtml' one doesn't often see it.
