Do you think the USA should require labeling of GMO food? In 96 GMO's were approved for use but yet consumers were not informed what they were eating not only is it processed but made from GMO. http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/push-to-label-genetically-modified-food-gains-traction/article_397471e6-625a-11e1-a317-001a4bcf6878.html The article even sites 60-80% of items in the grocery stores in the USA are GMO.
If you are outside of the USA is there regulation for GMO labeling in your country? And how does it affect the foods you consume?
I know if we had the labeling and it was something obvious I would think twice about wanting to buy an item or look for an alternative.

Exactly give people the opportunity to choose provided they decide to read the label on the package. I know I'm trying to be more aware of HFCS.

I definitely think GMO labeling should be mandatory. They have to put everything else on the label; why not this? As consumers, we have the right to make informed choices, but if we don't have the information, that takes away our right to choose.

The way I view the question of GMO is that if a veggie repulses insects and birds then it can't be all that healthy for me. As for meat, I don't think I'd want to eat lab grown meats.

I agree. Consumers have the right to know if their food contains GMO or not. I try to steer clear of any foods containing genetically modified seeds. We just don't know what all those chemicals can do to our bodies. I plan on growing my own vegetables next year and I will be purchasing organic seeds. I'll be able to save my own seeds from my own foods, and know exactly what I am putting in my body. I think it is a disgrace to all of us that GMO does not label their foods.

Even more disgraceful is the fact that there is so little competition for the companies that produce GMO ingredients/crops. Though honestly it probably would all be labeled GMO except organic. And most people have a hard enough time paying their bills let alone deciding on if they can afford to go organic.

I'm from Europe, and yes, we still have labels on GMO products. At least I hope we have...
What is really scary about GMO, apart from the fact that no one can say for sure how genetic modifications are going to influence our own genetics, is the fact that seeds are patented. Which means that companies have rights and possibilities to control lives of humankind. They can decide who will get the seeds, and by that possibility to live, and who will starve.
With aggressive approach of giant companies as Monsanto, against independent farmers and even governments that refuse to introduce GMO in their production, fundamental human right to live, is in jeopardy. I know this sounds like some theory of conspiracy, but I'm talking about real possibilities. And just because something is not moral, wasn't never stand in the way of making profit.
Unfortunately, I don't see the realistic way of fight against this, except that every individual should research and educate itself on such things, and be prepared for self sustainability as much as possible.
