a year or so ago when I posted a discussion about Taco bell being sued for possible junk they were putting in their meat? If you don't here are the links:

So, today on the news there was a story about this stuff called 'Pink Slime' that fast food and commercial meat packing companies are putting in their meat. Well, you got it......in researching to see I find that Taco bell is one of those companies. I am enraged to say the very least. This company and Clinton should get together. They lie so well! And back when all this Taco Bell litigation was goin on Mcdonald's said their meat was 100% pure meat. Nope! They are one of the ones using this stuff. So what can we believe in? Your thoughts please.
And here is the link to the more recent site that exposes Taco bell as having the pink slime in it also:

Yahoo had an article recently that McDonald's was discontinuing its use of pink slime. The more I know about fast food and other restaurants, the easier it is for me to just eat at home. Time has gone by quickly, I did not realize that was a whole year ago.

I like Arby's, and it is kind of hard to put much into roast beef other than roast beef. We tend to eat at Pizza Hut buffet more than anything. Sometimes out of town we do a Chinese buffet, our local ones have gotten to where they make me sick, not sure why. We went to a barbecue joint and had some tasty smoked meat and ribs the other day.

The sad thing is they can put an article up like that but it doesn't mean they'll stop. I'm pretty sure it's much cheaper and makes the chicken last longer and so they are still going to do it. How they make it appear so delicious is beyond me, and the taste isn't bad. I've not had a "regular" chicken nugget in so long. I'm with you on the fresh food train, if we all (Americans) ate fresh food instead of processed for even just one month, we'd feel better, we'd look bettter.

Ya, they are saying that but they have lied so much. Sad they have 100% pure meat. We don't eat at these places as much as we used to. I like Wendy's and BK. Sometimes Mcd's has a toy my grandson wants so we go but that is about it any more.

I was thinking mcdonald's had used the pink slime too, I heard it somewhere not too long ago. It's sad though as we love the taste of this stuff but it is so unhealthy for us. Much better to make our own chicken nugets, and taco's or go to a place that is more reputable.

Yes, it is pretty icky indeed. I like BK and WEndy's anyway. We also have a Hawkin's Drive in here that we like. Big hamburgers and one order of fries is more than enough for three of us. I don't care for McDonald's at all but my grandson likes the toys. And you know me and Taco Bell. lol

It does bother me that fast food chains use this "meat". We all know that fast food is unhealthy, so we are making a choice to eat unhealthy when we go to these places. Of course, there is a difference between being unhealthy in our eating habits and being unhealthy by contracting a disease such as E-coli or salmonella, especially when both these diseases can be fatal, especially in the elderly or in someone with an already compromised immune system.
However, fast food chains using these products does not bother me as much as learning that many school lunch rooms use this product. Many people send their children to school expecting them to get a nourishing lunch only to find out that they are being exposed to these sorts of products - that is completely unacceptable. Also, most (if not all) school districts have free or reduced price lunches for low income households. This program is supposed to help ensure that these children get at least one meal a day that is healthy and filling yet this practice of using potentially contaminated meat flies in the face of that premise not to mention that they have not said anything about the potential health risks of eating ammonia over a prolonged period of time.

But it's not just the fast food places. It is also the commercial meat packing outfits as well. The amonia must not hurt us very bad.

How unconceivable that is! I don't know what the "pink slime" is until I trawl it online. It is ammonia-treated meat and it was reported that they have it in school lunch.Nowaday ,some people who care solely for profit go so far as to do whatever they will.It is not too much to say that they are murdering people for their money.

Personally anymore, you never know what is really considered Safe, and Free from chemicals, etc. I am sure there are even restaurants around that have been known to do this, and use it, and many of them might not even be aware of it. It could even be in some of your local Grocery stores as well. I guess you could try to get your food as fresh as you can or organic grown just to be safe. I guess you never know unless something effect you do you?

yes, it does. And it is difficult and expensive to go completely organic unless you can do it yourself which I can't. Can't even glow things here.

I remember those discussions! I saw something a few weeks ago about pink slime but I thought it was McDonald's...that's who my b/f said it was. I think that nasty pink slime might be used by more companies than one.
Was it an employee in the plant that exposed them?

It probably was McDonald's but reading on I found Taco Bell too. I didn't read or hear where they said who exposed them. It is even commercial meat companies. They don't have to say whether they use it or not. That really gripes me.

But even vegans may not be getting the nutrients they need due to depleating soil.
