If you look at the western sky tomorrow, after sunset, you will see the planets Venus and Jupiter passing within 3 degrees of each other. Why not snap a photo of these lovely planets? Who knows when you see them again passing so near each other. Here is a video by Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium, and he gives his opinion about what is the most astounding fact about the Universe. When I saw this video, I came to think of the inspired words of Isaiah 40:26: "Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing." (New Living Translation) What do you think is the most astounding fact about the Universe??

I'm in Georgia. Will I be able to see it? I haven't heard anything about it, but I would love to see it. The universe is Sooo amazing to me. To me the universe shows just how big and powerful and majestic our God really is.

I guess it will be visible in the USA, no harm in checking the western sky after sunset. I forgot the link to the video I talked about, so I will put it here.. http://www.oneminuteastronomer.com/5464/astounding-fact-universe/ Here is a story about a nuclear scientist who studied the Bible carefully and says that there is nothing there that is in coflict with scientific facts. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040122a/article_01.htm This scientist believes in a powerful Creator just like we do..

@vinodhkanna2005 Venus is the next planet to us in the direction of the sun, so it maybe will be visible in the direction of the sunrise or sunset.. Just have a look, I hope you can see it! The Bible teaches us many things how great our creator is and if you clck the link above, you will find a great story about a nuclear scientist who has studied the Bible and found that it is harmony with scientific facts.

That's really amazing. How i wish i can see it with my own eyes. And capture with my cam and stare it for how many hours. How impressive and marvelous things we see these with our naked eyes. A beautiful view that no man can't explain and no one can compare how God created the world with perfection. We are very lucky to experience his creation and do the things we want except destroying it and wasting for humans own selfishness.

Yes, amazing - that is what it is. I wish everyone could stop once in a while and meditate on the huge universe and God who has such a power that He could create it with every star and planet moving exactly the right speed. No disorder there. Teaches us a great deal about the person who created everything!

You are right, it is hard to understand how big the universe is, at it is still there, we just have to accept we can only scratch the surface of it all..

If we read Genesis chapters 1 and 2, we can learn a lot about the creation. When God said "Let there be light", the earth and the stars and planets were already there and if there was a Big Bang, it must have happened maybe millions of years ago. But God cleared the atmosphere so that tha sunlight and the moonlight could come through the thick clouds that were covering the earth. There is a mention of a thick cover of clouds: "8Who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as issuing out of the womb : 9when I made a cloud the garment thereof, and wrapped it in a mist as in swaddling bands?" Job 38:8,9 (King James Version) God views the time in a different way than we humans.. "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." - 2Peter3:8 (New International Version)

I always figured that "Let there be light" and the "Big Bang" were the same thing.... What is God's day in human understanding?

I think that is lovely. or many years I lived in places that were so urbanized that one could barely see the stars in the sky because of all the artificial lights that burn all night long, but now I am again in a small town that is within a few miles of land that still has dark night and a canopy of stars twinkling above. It is lovely to see.

I live in a small place too but there are still many lights here, so they can disturb the view of the sky - but these two starts are well visible and there are places here where we can look at the sky without too much lights around.

Yes,I have seen them on several clear nights. It's really neat. It's almost like someone watching you from the sky. It is a rare and beautiful thing indeed.

Yes, absolutely.. I remember when we had the comet Halebop visible and one could use ordinary binoculars to view it better. I think I will try to see these planets with a binocular too.. A real telescope would be even more interesting to use..

You might be seeing it but I am not sure about the direction. Venus is the planet that is closest to us and it should be in the direction of the sun, so it should be seen just after the sunset. It is very bright, so you should see it easily. Sometimes there might be a satellite we see that is so bright and we may think it is a star...

I suppose the greatest miracle for me is that there is this great orchestra, a lot bigger than what we are able to think, and everything is playing on tune.

Yes, that is a good illustration of the harmony in universe and on the earth. We would never exist if the Order and Harmony were not there.

This is great. Two planets passing each other. If I had a telescope that could reach up to that, I won't pass up the opportunity. The downside is my vision isn't really 20/20 anymore, mainly because of playing video games when I was younger. There are, in fact, a lot of amazing stuff that you can see in the sky at night. The stars make the night a pleasant time of the day to look at. They make it magical, along with the moon that shines brightly with them.

Yes, it is really amazing - we feel so small when we look at the stars. I saw the two stars this night, and it must be Venus tha shines so bright, as it is much closer to us than Jupiter.
