Funny cat birthing story

When my children were smaller they would drag home kittens and say "PLEASE?" so one year I gave in and became the owner of a yellow tabby kitten we named Muffin. She was like an indoor outdoor type cat. Which meant she got pregnant. So as she was nearing her time to birth, I thought ok I will make her a space in the closet and put an old sheet in there and some recieving blankets to prepare for the birthing process. My youngest son being 4 at the time was home when Muffin decided to give birth. I was making us lunch and he was watching TV. All of a sudden he yells out MOM Muffin is bleeding. I went running in to Nick not wanting him to see what was really going on til I knew she could do this on her own since it was her first litter. I said Well Nick I think Muffin is going to have her babies so I will place her in the closet so she will be comfortable. I carried her in and come back out and about two minutes later Nick says Mom Muffin is out here again. Well she certainly was and right in the middle of having one. So I gently picked her up, took her back again not two minutes later, she is back in the living room again. Finally I told Nick that Muffin was going to have her babies and I guess she wanted to be with us. I went and got the sheets and blankets and brought it to the livingroom and she birthed 5 kittens while we watched. I had never thought of a cat doing that I always figured they liked to hide in dark places and have their kittens. But what was really funny we thought was the following spring she was expectant again and darn if she did not have her babies in the middle of the livingroom floor So I guess my kids got first hand experience at Animal Planet. Have you ever heard of a strange birthing story related to cats?

I also fixed a place for my cat in the closet, but she went under the bed! I had to help her with each one as she was not very smart. She only had 4 but had no idea what to do. I had to cut all of the cords for her. When she tried to carry them (when they got older) she would put their heads in her mouth instead of the scruff of their necks. My mother had a male cat that would carry them for her and really took care of them more than she did.

Awww she just did not get her maternal instincts to kick in. bless her. And the male cat had maternal instincts how cute!

So far, I've mostly missed the birthing of kittens, but... when my mom's cat, Cat, was ready to deliver, she had been up in the nest, but as soon as she started delivering, she came screaming down the stairs to have them with mom!

I can only imagine seeing a cat running down the stairs screaming. poor kitty. there is no way to prepare them for that first litter. She wanted her mom to help her! Good Story!
