We all love to travel. It relieves us from the dull and monotous life of everyday. But unfortunately, traveling may not always be a pleasure and occasionally may be an exhausting saga of attacks of motion sickness. The giddiness, fatigue, nausea and vomiting which characterize motion sickness may be so severe that traveling may be treated as a torture for those affected by motion sickness. Certain simple precautions can help you cope-
1.Be aware of situations that tend to trigger symptoms and avoid them.
2.Optimize seating position while traveling. Sit in the front seat of a car or bus or over the wing of an aircraft. Keep your head still. Try to focus on a distant stationary object.
3. Do not eat a heavy meal, drink caffeinated beverages, alcohol or eat chocolate or sweets before travel. Chewing gum does help.
4. Eating ginger helps some people.
5. Some odours like mint or lime may reduce nausea. Other smells like cigarette smoke may aggravate it.
So those who are prone to motion sickness or have history of previous motion sickness should always be careful about it before starting any journey and should follow the precautionary measures stated above. If all these fail to save him or her, he or she should take medicines at least 1 hour before the actual journey to make it a pleasure trip. Are you a victim of motion sickness?

I don't have those symptoms stated above, but I would be cautious about the warning of those heavy meals though. One thing I just not like to ail my stomach while enjoying all those good food. I would love to watch my weight while enjoying the cuisines of locals. I love travel myself too, it was just the time of schedule and money that restrict me.

Not all have this kind of symptoms while traveling, only a few are the real victims. But I think everybody should be aware of this motion sickness and should take precautionary measures as well as avoid the aggravating factors to keep himself well during any trip so that he can actually enjoy the trip.

Fortunatly I don´t have those problems, friend. But I always take along acid hard candy when I´m aboard a plane as my ears hurt. Eating those, plus opening and shutting my mouth, helps reduce the pain from the differences in pressure.

I am actually quite lucky when it comes to motion sickness because it is something that I've never suffered from. My little brother, on the other hand, suffers immensely from motion sickness. He always has to ride in the front seat of a vehicle and he also has to take dramamine to help him with his sickness as well.
If he is able to do those two things, then he will be okay, if not, he will get very, very sick.

I am actually a victim of migraine especially if the weather changes. When I am travelling I am getting ready with my mint candy, paracetamol. Though I still have questions that how come when I am riding an airplane I have this feeling of heavy headache that comes to my mind.

I don't have motion sickness. I have been on ferries, plane and trains and don't seem to have a problem. I know there is medicines to help. Hopefully not too many people have this problem. It could really put traveling in a bad light and not so enjoyable as it could be other wise.
