Why do other singers needs to REVIVE the songs?

Instead of making original lyrics or compose a song then how come many singers are just reviving the old songs? Because all I can think here is that they are just promoting their voices not the song itself.

hi, for me, i think they revive the songs because they want to give a new life with the song i mean new from the ears of the listener and the other is they revive because they create a tribute for the first singer of that songs, actually i loved those revived music.

Many singers don't have an education at music academy anymore, there is a lot already made, sometimes they think they can do/sing that song better, some songs are worth to be updated in this time so younger people will appreciate it too, some songs just tickle the creative mind and something new can be made or created out of an old (boring) song. But I do agree it's very frequently boring to hear all these copies. Many are not great at all (but I think the new generation will not even notice that since they don't know the old song(s)). I do find it a pity too that there are hardly new great songs be born. I think it must be possible. BTW I don't think it's about promoting their voices since most singers don't even have a great voice at all.

There are songs that become more popular when revived. I want to sit an example. The song "Be My Lady" was originally sang by "Pedrito Montaire" for a song festival way back in 1983 composed by Vehnee Saturno. It was then recorded and sang by Matt Monroe, unknown to most people that it was recorded earlier by Pedrito Montaire. However, the song becomes a big hit only in the year 1994 when Martin Nievera revived the song again. Some singers revive old songs and it benefited both-singers and the song once it becomes a big hit.Although, there are other singers who revived old songs in different way and make it even worse, or other singers revived famous old songs in a bad way/s.

at some instances you're right, often times it's because they also love that song. What makes it annoying sometimes is that they're making their version of the song very disgusting, if compared to that of the original version.

Cause they either like the song alot to try to make it sound like their favorite artist or they try to make it sound even better. I prefer some remakes on songs but if a ainger does only those types of songs it would get to be mundane. I prefer them to do their own music, as a whole though. They could put their own spin on the revivals if they want to but sometimes they just won't do them any justice. I have heard very few of the remakes that actually sound better than the orginal artist.
