How do you get referrals for GPT programs?

I an very unsuccessful in getting referrals, and I have tried putting links in signatures, sending it to Real life friends, etc. No spamming, of course.
But I have had no luck. I know that some people here are proficient referrers, and I would like to learn how you do it. I'm sure many other people will too.
If you have a lot of referrals for a certain site, I am definitely willing to sign up under you if you teach me how you get that many referrals. :)
Of course, providing the the site is a good one, of course. :)
I am especially looking for people who are in the Rewards1 program and Cashcrate, but other programs are also welcome.
{Please don't spam your ref links below, but do gives some tips. If you do have sites you want to offer, please PM me}

I've gotten some referrals for Cashcrate and other gpt sites I use, not many but at least I have some for my efforts. Mainly by blogging, posting in forums, posting my link anywhere I can without it violating any rules. Traffic exchange and free referrals sites did not work for me the one time I tried them. You can try every single thing you can and get 1000 refs but it won't be worth it if you don't get quality referrals. Just be honest and inform them on how much they can make on each site realistically. This way they don't sign up thinking it will be easy money and then give up on it almost instantly. Nobody wastes anyone's time.

Usually people would just wipe out your ref link though. Even getting people to just sign up under you is hard. How do you convince someone to sign up under you?
(In an idealistic world they would anyway, since it is really you who referred them. But the world doesn't work like that).

Show them payment proof, give them positive facts about site, anything that would interest them. I mean why did you sign up with the site, there must have been something that made you think you could make money so use that to interest others. Maybe you could write about the referral program and how much they can potentially make. There's just no easy way, it's hard because people assume that just because it's online work it should be fast and easy.

... Yes... I've heard that people who do have lots of referrals don't always earn a lot. But it's still a feat to get people to even sign up under you.
